It would be at this point in our school staff games against others when the next batsman in would be our history master who had opened for combined universities, or when bowling we would hand the ball to our former Gloucestershire fast bowler. The aim being to ensure victory, but not by much
That way, amateurs like me who tended to get a blacksmith's innings of two boundaries and out could still be on the winning side.

NZ definitely on top, BUT England still need less than a run a ball.
With one day field setting it is not a bad target.

115-4 after 30, usually work on doubling the score from here.
Not enough.

Good steady batting but not fast enough. How do they make out England's chance of winning is improving?

Not losing wickets, so they can afford to have at it in the last 10 overs.

And lose wickets?
93 from 78 balls

On the worm graph, England are only a gnat's cock below the NZ curve with one wicket less gone. NZ second string bowlers are very vulnerable. My money would be on England at this point; still tight though, and a couple of quick wickets would swing it NZ's way.

68/53 still 15 short.
How to give 69% chance I don't know. For my money the batting is so accurate - straight to the fielders.
If we lose it will be the NZ fielders who won.

42nd over: England 177-4 (Stokes 47, Buttler 44) The Win Predictor has England at 69 per cent.

No chance, now 38% as they need 10 x 4 and only 13 free balls.

Super over!

England will win on boundaries hit if the Super Over is a tie.
NZ are 1/4 in super overs in T20, England 1/1. NZ matches have gone to super overs two and a half times more often than any other team now.
