I’ve got a ticket for the 5th day at the Oval, automatically refunded if the match is finished.

You should get 50% back even if the match is played, as The Ashes are over.

When I used to go to Wanderers, I always went on the 2nd day.
I think it has the best chance of being an interesting day.

It’s now official :D
Former England captains Geoffrey Boycott and Andrew Strauss have been given knighthoods in ex-Prime Minister Theresa May's resignation honours list.

Only a knighthood?
He should be elevated to the House of Lords!

How can Root tell two players who are performing poorly, but better than him, that they are dropped for today's final test?

Using the excuse that because Stokes is unable to bowl, need to change the team around.

Quick rant. Was offered a ticket for today, but couldn’t get the time, why didn’t the Pilots go on strike when there’s sport on :((

The privilege of rank.
Rank bad and over promoted, as well as being from wrong side of the hills.

The correct side of the hills!

But I have never been convinced of his qualifications to be the captain.
The way the modern game is, players like him do not actually play much 1st class cricket.
His progression was more through the England youth, age limit, hierarchy, than League side, Colts, 2nd II and County side.
How many 1st class games has he played in at the County level v playing Test Matches?

How does his record of 1st class games stand verses that of Ray Illingworth when he had been England captain for 2 years?

Is it rose tinted glasses, or were things better in my youth?

Or Brian Close.

Even Ken Barrington was a better batsman, if somewhat boring.

He of course wasn't given 2 years as the England captain. He upset the establishment.

I once had the honour and privilege of having breakfast with him, at a hotel close to Lords.

I should of had him sign the card, it would have been worth a bob or two now.

I'll see your Brian Close and up my breakfast with Brian Johnson at a cafe near the Oval.

I see that having the English 1st Class season extend past the Autumnal equinox is not a great success.

Lancashire’s first game of the season at Old Trafford starts on April 12th, that’s going to be a fun experience L-)

From bails that don't get blown off, will they have ones that float?
