Cricket Thread

Seeing as there is a big summer of cricket ahead - an Ashes series plus the World Cup - I thought it was time to start a thread about God's own sport.

We can start with the current goings-on in Barbados. England's much vaunted lower order failed this time to bail out the top order and the Windies are heading for a deserved win. Their bowlers certainly stole the show - bowling just back of a length was perfect for this pitch. Good as they are, Anderson and Stokes couldn't do it on their own and looked absolutely shattered in the second innings. Poor selection from England. Two spinners on this pitch was the wrong call - Broad should have been picked as the length required is pretty much his stock delivery.

Batting for England at 6 or 7 must be like opening. They can't keep finding themselves in the position of 4 wickets down for not very many. The Aussies will certainly relish their chances on current form. In particular, if Jennings somehow keeps his place for The Ashes then the Aussie quicks will be lining up to bowl to him, pitched up just outside off. The boy cannot drive.
