Oh dear, Standards appear to have fallen.

I didn't know crisps and chocolate bars were classed as food in the orfficers mess.

An ex-lance jack from the Int Corps no less.

Does fishing through the bar grill with two billiard cues make you a naughty boy too?

I wonder how they could finger a single individual for theft over a three month period.

I recall at an Army mess, oddly enough the same Corps, they had a barman 3 days per week. Discrepancies were covered by a levy on those who had used the bar.

I remember a recent post, here or TOP, where there was a WRAF with very slender arms.

I also recall a similar incident at the Otterburn Arms where the OC used initiative and climbing ability. The hotel owner was not impressed.

I put my hands up to that post Pontius. In fact I’ve seen it a few times. The last time was in an officers’ mess in deepest Peterboroughshire where the miscreants left bar chits on the bar. Previous times were at various places, UK and overseas, in NAAFIs - no chits, or fingerprints were ever left.

The second best use for WRAFs (slim) that was ever devised :D

Only if you get caught.

Long gone now but the head barman at Waddo was allegedly an exRSM. Bit of a jobsworth except do anything for you if you were on side.

Then suddenly RAF staff room over, one of the civvies became a battle again.

Seemed Mr M had gone on holiday and new airman, being a bit keen, did a stock take. Over the bar were cartons of cigarettes, just out of reach. OIC would go in, count stock, tick, all present.

Airman was a bit more thorough and got them down - empty!

=))

Chocolates and crisps for God's sake! We aren't really dealing with a Milo Minderbinder here! He probably pilfers from the offering plate at Church too!

Now here is a guy who clearly ate a lot of chocolates...

We had a detachment for three days at Coltishall from Prestwick. Got back from the pub to find the bar was closed so tried fishing through the grill. No luck and one broken glass later we realised they had also turned the gas off for the beer so we reluctantly went to bed.

Next morning we detected a bad atmosphere with several sideways looks and faces like we had trodden something in on our shoes. Interview with Wing Commander (Flying) followed, who was delighted an inter-service incident had been avoided when we explained what had happened. At the end of the day's flying the atmosphere in the Mess was lighter as it turned out a living in Jaguar pilot had got back later than us and taken a more direct route to his nightcap by kicking the Bar door open and borrowing a bottle of whisky!

Years later when we lived nearby in Norfolk I went over and parked near the runway and watched them landing - understandable high anxiety and adrenaline could even be sensed from a distance!
