The thing a wonder about in Christchurch, is did the RSA club survive?

It had rather nice murals and I thought it was a wonderful place.

A great pity that the original building had to be destroyed. But the new one looks good.

I was introduced to the NZ RSA by my BiL who lives near Wellington, he did 22 in the Green Howards, including Burma in WWII. After his introduction and when we toured our way back to Auckland, on arrival in a new town the 1st question always was; 'Where is the RSA?' They had the best value dinning room in town, and we were always made welcome.

It helped that I had my RAFA membership card with me. :-bd

There seems to be some issue with the webcam and possibly YouTube?

I cannot find the live stream any more, but a 30sec update cycle is here https://namibiaweather.info/namibiawebcam.php

They are obviously having issues! Was working at 0900(Z)

This is a note from their website
"Intermittent interruptions may occur - hey, it's in a remote destination in the world's oldest desert after all."

The annoyance is the changing YouTube URL. A direct URL would be nice!

This site will tell you if it is 'up' or not. https://namibiaweather.info/Namib-Desert-Live-Cam.php You can see time-lapse recordings of recent days, though - at the moment.

This is the live webcam at the harbour in Stonehaven, our nearest town, in NE Scotland. The webcam swings to one of three angles every few seconds. The harbour is where the fireballs from the Fireballs Ceremony end up being thrown just after midnight on Hogmanay - cancelled due to Covid in 2020 and 2021.

Fire Cameras

While not strictly a webcam site, this one has hundreds of still cameras that take a shot every minute or so. Coverage is slowly building but good coverage in California and surrounding areas. You can switch to differernt cameras on the right screen and move around/zoom etc.

These are monitored 24/7 during fire season and most cameras can be controlled from the command station and are used for triangulating fire positions. Kinda fun during fires, you occasionally get to see aircraft working them.
