And this looks more robust. Using the straight pipes overcomes the bending issue with domes.

Could someone please setup a franchise selling solar power water heaters in ZA, as all the pools that we’ve experienced are bloody freezing 🥶

It’s not an Eskom issue this time, they just don’t seem to warm them up.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I've often wondered if there's a market for water-cooled electric solar panels. The electric versions are less efficient if they get hot, which they usually do when sat out exposed to the sun. If they had water cooling pipes on the back, it would allow the excess heat to be taken away and used more usefully.

Of course, the two big issues here (apart from the magazine) are 1. the extra weight of all that water on a roof, and 2. electricity and water in close proximity is always cause for concern, especially as there's no easy way to shut off a solar cell except throw a cover over it.

Our pool is heated by pumping water into the solar panel(Black Panel on the shed roof which covers about 100 square feet ) which with an OAT of 20*c gives a pool temp of around 28*c.
The higher the OAT, the higher the pool temp, which works for us as we are blessed with abundant sunshine.
