Rugby World Cup Final

#1 Post by Woody » Fri Sep 01, 2023 8:30 am

28th October is the Rugby World Cup Final, which kicks off at 20.00 BST, anyone fancy meeting up for the event, possibly somewhere in London.

OHL can wear his Springbok underwear if ZA make the Final :-o

Edit- I think that’s the weekend that the clocks go back, so an extra hour to recover the following day.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

In preparation I have been practising this victory haka demonstrated here by Simione Kuruvolia during the Fijian's victory over England last weekend.

Well I had hoped it might have been a leetle bit closer...

Had excellent radio commentary on Newstalk ZB.

Good match. NZ got off to a good start but showed a little indiscipline and the French deserved the win in the end.

Looking forward to the SA Scotland match on Sunday.

Looking forward to the fact one or two of the key players in the Scottish team are Saffers.

Just watched Ireland crush the unfortunate Romanians 82-8, for my better half to say... "look at the goal keeper, he looks exhausted!". I felt a sense of futility overcome me as I pointed out that the "goalkeeper" was the Irish try scorer and that there are aren't goal keepers in rugby, to which she opined, "yes, I guess they would have to be rather tall to stop the ball going through the H!" =))

I am sure she does it purposely! :))

Well I wasn’t expecting that result, especially with a ffrench referee.

It was not so much that the English played well, they didn't, but that Argentina played so badly, making mistake after stupid mistake. At one point I thought they had lost their collective minds. Ford showed steely precision and the English didn't crack despite the red card. In fact they started to dominate up front and eked out what was ultimately a big morale building win, so credit to them. I had images of Michael Cheka taking out a revolver and shooting himself after that truly terrible Argentinian performance which wasn't helped by some bizarre calls by the French ref. All that said, the English won and Borthwick is safe. Who knows, they might even be able to build on this victory to truly be the sum of their parts, if not more so?

^ Viewed a watch-along commentary, sounded a bit scrappy at times, missed chances etc, but as you say, it'll do.

Indeed. It would have been a fairytale ending if they hadn't spilled the ball at the last. Whatever the case, Fiji are a team to behold, and win a lot more matches methinks.
