It would be good to think Walsh has now had enough of the fat Spanish waiter and his posturing and stupidity and will get rid of him. Soon. Without a payoff. Under a cloud of ignominy. There's a pueblecito somewhere in Guipuzcoa/Gipuzkoa missing its burro and I'm sure there's a shop that needs a cleaner or a restaurant that needs someone to clear tables.

Aw come on! That is one sweet little burro and in truth the Spaniard is doing what the group under Walsh is paying him to do. Getting hung up about Spanish vis. a vis. British (or Irish rather) management makes asses of us all! We are being screwed by an international company and they are delighted to be cutting costs and driving the once great BA (now separated from its pension liability) down into LOCO country!

At least the royals can blame the RAF for making them airsick this evening in Pakistan.

25min flight takes 2 hours including diversion back to origin?

But at least no shock horror and no death-defying plunge!!

Yes, a difficult one. It is a thin line with these flights. Got to get the job done to the second but passenger comfort is paramount also of course flight safety. What else could they do. Maybe pick a different time of year for the tour? Personally, I would pick a different country. Horrible place.

I managed to avoid nightstopping there when the Classic 747 used to go from London to Manchester to Islamisbad and return.

No regrets I was never able to mingle with and study the culture at close quarters. #:-S

My sister booked flights JER-LGW-DBV (Dubrovnik) on BA for September 2020. She allowed 1'50" to connect at LGW. BA changed the time of the flight to DBV so she was only left with 60" - the exact MCT, which she was not happy with, so she emailed and asked them to put her on an earlier JER- LGW so that the comfortable connecting time was maintained. She pointed out that if they didn't do it, they would be liable to pay hotac, EU261, meals etc.

I told her they would probably refuse the first time but on insisting, they would do it, but what was funny was that I wrote a spoof reply :
Dear Mrs xxxx (name spelt wrong)

Thank you for reaching out to us about your recent flights to Seattle.

We are sincerly sorry that our flight schedules were changed. When we plan schedules it is often many months in advance and due to operational constraints with airports it can be necessary at times to make changes to planned flight times. We can understand that you have been disappointed.

Thank you for reaching out to us and we look forward to being of farther service to you in a future date.

Ryanair again named worst short-haul airline in survey
Which? Travel rates Aer Lingus highly but marks Ryanair, BA down

Ryanair has achieved an unenviable four in a row after again being declared the worst short-haul airline in a survey carried out by one of the leading consumer watchdogs in Europe.

The news was almost as bad, if not worse, for British Airways which has been ranked among the worst airlines in Europe for both short-haul and long-haul passengers.


Just four years ago the airline topped the short-haul category in the Which? annual survey.

By contrast, BA’s sister airline Aer Lingus did well and was ranked the fourth best short-haul airline flying out of UK airports, according to the survey.

The consumer champion asked more than 6,500 holidaymakers to rate their experiences of flights taken over the last 12 months. People were asked to describe their experiences of customer service, boarding and cabin environment.

British Airways was third from the bottom in the short-haul table and fared even worse when it came to its long-haul offering where it was second from the bottom.


Holidaymakers panned BA for the quality of food and drink, the comfort of its seats and value for money for both short- and long-haul services – with both only managing a 55 per cent customer score overall.


In 2015, the British flag carrier was named best short-haul airline in the Which? Travel survey. IT failures, strikes and mass cancellations have conspired to see the airline fall in customers’ estimations.

No mention of a replacement? I think that in your scenario, without one, 'BA' would need to 're-brand' as 'IAG'.

No, he's being replaced by another Spaniard, Luis Gallego. He has been employed by a number of third rate Spanish airlines.
This will merely compound the disaster that BA/IB/VY has become.
I would rename the whole thing Aero Dago or Spicair and let it rot.

Willy Walsh to retire in June this year.
He'll keep HIS Staff Travel for Life tho', unlike many others that he has robbed. ( like all the other voting Board Members at the time of the disaster decision )
