They couldn't possibly cut 4700 jobs, that's about 99% of the work force, sorry, employee head count.
Certainly they could get rid of many useless parasitic NRs from management who do nothing all day but sit with their snouts in the trough waiting for the next free ticket.

There have been several articles about this in the ZA media in the last few days. The elephant in the room has been ignored - where is the money going to come from (Whitey the Taxpayer, of course, but they can't carry on squeezing him for ever), who is going to pay the debts and repay the money that Zuma and his curry muncher friends stole?

This is a pipe dream, someone's been smoking their socks. I hope I'm wrong, but I see little reason for optimism.

Of course a 'New SAA' run by ANC cadre's will work when the smart money is getting out of the airline business.

How do we pay for it? No problem, implement a wealth tax!

What is wrong with wealth taxes?

You are taxed as you earn money, at an incremental percentage rate as you earn more.
You are taxed when you spend it, and the wealthier you are the more you will spend.
You will probably drive a more expensive car, contributing more in tax through fuel and so on.
You will have domestic staff, and probably a business, generating work and taxes for others.
You are taxed on the wealth that you have accumulated by hard work and prudence.
Finally you will be taxed when you vrek.

Tax is a fair concept when applied equitably. In ZA it will fall on 1% of the population. They will be whites, so in this case it's just another piece of racist legislation.

It has been proved that when tax rises above what people consider fair, those at the top, those who pay the most tax, will find ways of avoiding the higher taxes, they are squeezed out of the top of the net, and that leads to a lower fiscal take. Particularly in ZA, what will happen is that wealthier individuals will find it worthwhile to emigrate, or export their capital, with a negative effect on the the economy.

So the retrenchment/redundancy notices were 'unfair'.

What does that mean? The company is still broke and loosing money.

A complete and utter waste of public money when a 5 year old could see that the woman isn't fit to clean toilets, never mind run an international airline.

They tried that before, but she couldn't afford the petrol to drive from KZN (nice neighbours you have, Ian) to the Highveld. Presumably she no longer gets free air tickets.

Nothing will happen to her. Nada de nada. Same as Zuma, although they might both catch something nasty from pomping each other.
