To contenarised or not

#1 Post by Rwy in Sight » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:59 pm

Ever since I saw a turn around of an A300B4 with a palletized load used back in1985, I am curious on the pro and cons of using pallets or containers to move baggages and cargo on pax aircraft. I understand there are costs about using the containers and the loading equipment and it might save time. Any experiences or anecdotes for those who have used either containers or bulk loading?

RiS, I saw a demonstration a couple of years back where the containers had kevlar anti-explosive lining which contained a bomb explosion.

Don't know if anything became of that.

PN,

I think that this a recurring test. I remember a similar experience using a 747 some twenty years ago. It seems you can either reinforce the fuselage or use a strong container.
