737 Max cancellation

#1 Post by OFSO » Mon Jul 08, 2019 7:54 am

I see a Saudi loco has cancelled an order for the 737Max and switched to Airbus. Only 30 aircraft plus follow-ups, though. Probably FR will take the production slots.

What worries me is that this flood of orders will place Airbus under pressure to increase output.

Will they too start to cut corners?

I believe they are taking the orders from their parent company, Saudi Arabian Airlines. It will be interesting to see what SAA does now - is this part of an arm twist on the Americans? Perhaps there are geopolitical considerations, it is the Sandpit, after all. Or they could just order more MAXs for SAA later, at a lower price of course!
