Bristol Airport this morning.

If it was a bit further west you could expect a Taff.

No wind = fog
Strong wind = Newquay

Good to see that METAR posting standards are being adhered to! :)

N54 and a bit, W001 and a bit, surface actual sunny, windy, patio surface damp-damp-damp. Will that do?

How's this for a diversion to suit the airline rather than the customer! TAM8084, a 777 of Latam Airlines from Sao Paulo to LHR did two go arounds and diverted.....not to Manchester as a few others did but he went to BARCELONA where he's just started his approach!!
The helicopter pilots' mantra: If it hasn't gone wrong then it's just about to...

See other threads - BA PHX-LHR ended up in MUN as did UAL SFO-LHR. Still most Sceptics probably think Munich is in UK; geography does not seem to be their strong point.. Plenty of other diversions but a while since I've seen as many as far afield but this storm was pretty widespread making nearly all UK alternates a waste of time.

“A sad waste of time” = not enough S or SW’ly facing runways in UK to cope with the rejects from LHR & LGW?

Seeing as there were plenty of diversions from all UK airports, probably wisest to head to the South of the storm.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

The best Brit METARs come from certain old pommy blokes here who use simple plain language taking no more than a line or two. No fuss no mess no bitching no *****.

Here it’s nice n warm. Rampant VFR. No cloud. No rain expected.

Don’t think that many flights will be diverting to MUC today!

They have taken to calling "thunderstorms" by girls names now! If you have to be silly and call thunderstorms by name then what about Thunderstorm Valkyrie or Götterdämmerung or something like that!

Sabine... for goodness sake... Extra tropical low Ciara is now storm Sabine( and not a thunderstorm)... and causing real damage in Germany...

I know a German Sabine, not at all tempestuous and very easy on the eye.

The only Sabine I've heard of was "Ten minutes? I can do that in a van", putting down Jeremy Clarkson.

Ah Sabine Schmitz! She is certainly as fast as as the wind and very easy on the eye too.

The lady I am thinking of is a German actuary...

Pauline, Sabina's mother, was complaining to me on Saturday (?) about the use of her daughter's name. Sabina is half British half German, that's the girl not the storm.
