Several European airlines used to fly them into SFO and LAX, but I’d say that you’ve probably missed your chance now

It was quite usual to see A380's from BA, Air France, Lufthansa and Emirates at Johannesburg International/Jan Smuts/O R Tambo.

BA still planning to use A380 to JNB, just not quite sure when. Lufty and Air France have canned theirs I believe.

Re: Impact of coronavirus on aviation industry.
I remember when I was working on Alameda Island, looking up and seeing an A380 on finals into Oakland. It had diverted from SFO due to high winds. I did have a passing thought as to whether the smaller airport was equipped to handle something like that.

This is the Daily Wail's version of the above story; https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... plans.html
Down here if you want to cross an international border you have to have a negative PCR test taken in the previous 72 hours. So if you can't afford it you stay at home. Simples. Personally I can't see the problem, IMO it is good to stop people potentially importing and spreading the virus across borders. Here you still need to have a travel permit to travel between zones.
Aviation wise here, both Air Bots and Airlink are operating both domestic and international flights again.

Are any of those whingeing about the lack of definite policy on international travel able to guarantee what the infection rates will be in each destination in May?
No, I thought not - STFU.

The problem is, Wod, that the breathless excitable media are in full flow trying to convince everyone that it is 'all over' bar the shouting (and, unfortunately, to some extent succeeding). It isn't. The woods go on for a lot longer before we are out of them.

It’s very difficult for something that barely existed in the first place to be “all over “ , despite the efforts of the MSM and Boris and co to terrify the general population.

Plenty of correspondents in Europe that are providing information on why the situation is out of control.

Not 'why' but, what it means for travel? Why and that are, sadly, pretty obvious to me.

On a brighter note for a change, BA are planning to introduce flights to Eastern Europe this summer, although RIX has been tried before, was always a popular route for the ground staff due to the amount of attractive young females arriving
Edit- T3 may be reopening in June, depending on Boris.
