Ryanair chief pilot dismissed

#1 Post by OneHungLow » Wed Jun 14, 2023 11:10 pm

Ryanair has dismissed its chief pilot for what is alleged to be “a pattern of repeated inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour towards a number of female junior pilots”.

Aidan Murray, 58, had been with the Irish airline for 28 years. He was appointed to the most senior and powerful job in flight operations in 2020.

The Independent understands that an anonymous complaint was received late last month about inappropriate behaviour, and was followed by further reports from eight other female Ryanair flight crew of alleged unwanted approaches.

An investigation revealed a pattern whereby Mr Murray had swapped rosters in order to fly with certain female pilots. He is also alleged to have sent inappropriate text messages.

W T F is going on with what’s left of the English language?

They used to be known as Ryanair, now they operate under the yuckspeak title of a Designated Activity Company (DAC);

https://www.irishtimes.com/business/202 ... ief-pilot/

Unless he thought that his behaviour qualified under the DAC definition?

Maybe that’s why my B73NG landings were of variable quality ‘cos I was under the impression I was working for an aircraft operating company. =))

However, at least there won’t be an Oirish Pride protest at his departure complete with the usual cast waving rainbow flags... ~X(

We had a 'similar' situation in Astraeus where a senior manager was 'pursuing' the co-pilot girlfriend of another co-pilot. Several of us tried to help her. I think he fell out of a window - or something like that. =))

Silly bugger. Fired at 58, so it might be some time (if ever) before he gets his hand on anybody else's TO/GA switch! =))

You are a naughty boy ! That's almost as disgusting as that old vodka advert slogan, modified to "I thought Clitoris was a Greek holiday resort, until I discovered Smirnoff!" :)) =)) :YMPARTY:

anybody else's TO/GA switch!
I suspect it was the flaps that were the major concern?

Some more info on the exploits of Aidan;

https://www.aol.co.uk/news/ryanair-chie ... 58455.html

Does that mean there's a vacancy in Ryr for a NG/Max captain?

Alas I'm too old to go looking for TO/GA switches :))

Thousands were killed in the rush.... =))

Taking of "turn me on, baby" and other puns, I have diverted more incoming Smirnoff jokes to the Friday Jokes thread.

Now we can get on with the discussion of Capt Murray and his proclivities*. :-o

* Lovely word, we don't see it often enough these days. :YMAPPLAUSE:

I believe it was exercising his proclivities that offended the ladies.

A 'full and free' check should be conducted before each flight, observed by the co-pilot, of course.

I'm glad the FOs concerned were supported and believed by the company. Their allegations were taken seriously, appropriately investigated and found to be true.
Ryanair had no other choice but to dismiss him.
Just what on earth was he thinking? Did he genuinely think that behaviour was appropriate for a chief pilot?
