American Airlines passenger behind ‘not real’ viral tirade that delayed travelers for hours ID’d as marketing executive

https://nypost.com/2023/08/07/tiffany-g ... -meltdown/

The outburst came out of thin air… pods.

The woman behind the epic airplane meltdown where she proclaimed “that motherf—r back there is not real” to bemused fellow passengers is a Texas marketing executive who told cops the rant was sparked by an argument over wireless headphones.

Tiffany Gomas, a Dallas resident, was kicked off the plane following her bizarre outburst which led to hours of delays for other passengers, documents reviewed by The Post show.

Despite claiming “I’m getting the f—k off, and there’s a reason why I’m getting the f—k off” in the viral video of her storming up and down the plane aisle, the 38-year-old was not willing to leave the American Airlines flight and had to be removed by staff, according the police documents.

Before heading toward the front of the plane, Gomas added in her address to passengers: “You can sit on this plane and you can f—ing die with them or not. I’m not going to.”

The argument had started when Gomas fell out with relatives she was traveling with, accusing them of stealing her AirPods, the cops said.

“The female then started claiming the aircraft was not safe and did not want the aircraft to leave due to her believing it would not make it to its destination,” the July 2 complaint reads.

“Due to the statements the flight attendants felt the aircraft needed to be rescreened. [The airline manager] explained that the passenger was denied boarding and they wanted her escorted to the public side.”

Woman has epic meltdown over ‘not real’ passenger on American Airlines flight: ‘I’m getting the f–k off’
All the other passengers on Flight 1009 from Fort Worth to Orlando were then made to deplane so they could be screened through security again as a precaution because of the the nature of Gomas’ complaints.

“TSA personnel arrived at the scene to conduct a full rescreening of the aircraft,” the paperwork revealed.

By the time officers arrived at the gate, Gomas was “distraught” and trying to get back onto the plane. When Dallas-Fort Worth Department of Public Safety cops tried to speak to Gomas, she refused.

“[The airline manager] gave Gomas a verbal criminal trespass notice, explaining she was denied boarding and needed to depart the secure area,” investigators noted.

The rejected passenger was eventually escorted to the non-secure area of the airport, but that didn’t stop her from attempting to come back through TSA screening and into the boarding area multiple times, the documents say.

Police eventually tracked Gomas down to the terminal curb, where she was sitting and waiting for an Uber.

The argument had started when Gomas fell out with relatives she was traveling with, accusing them of stealing her AirPods, cops said.

She was given a ticket for criminal trespass notice which she refused to sign. Gomas did not show police her ID, the complaint states. She was never formally arrested or taken into custody. Through a representative, Gomas declined to give comment on the incident to The Post.

Although her reputation has taken a hit, at least legally Gomas is likely in the clear.

“The viral video if the stunning part of it, but I doubt you’re going to see some big prosecution over it,” Austin Attorney Adam Loewy told The Post.

Gomas lives in a $2 million home in the coveted Lakewood neighborhood.
Public records show Gomas lives in a $2 million home in city’s coveted Lakewood neighborhood.

She is a marketing executive who served as vice president of Elevate Brand Marketing, where she was named a “rising star” in 2017 by a trade publication.

“Tiffany has built a sales portfolio and track record that rivals account managers with decades in the business,” co-worker Dave Sedlin told the outlet.

The Oklahoma State University graduate advised young people starting in her industry to “roll with the punches” and “work hard and play hard,” in the accompanying profile.

Tiffany Gomas meltdown memes

The viral video not only inspired countless imitations and reactions online, it also has artists replicating the scene on canvas, stickers, T-shirts and memes.

One image by painter Travis Chapman shows an illustrated Gomas gesturing to a cabin packed with made-up characters – including Bigfoot, a unicorn and a big-eyed alien. :YMAPPLAUSE: :ymdevil:

Graphic language warning:
"The inspiration was seeing the video 1,000 times, and what she was saying about the ‘motherf---er is not real,’ so I just included all the imaginary creatures I could think of," he told FOX Business.

Canvas copies can be found on his Etsy page, where the painting got nearly a thousand five-star reviews on the first day it went up for sale.

‘Crazy plane lady’ Tiffany Gomas teases new project in apology for American Airlines rant

https://nypost.com/2023/08/14/crazy-pla ... w-project/

Self-described “crazy plane lady” Tiffany Gomas has launched a sweeping rebranding effort, teasing a secret new project to coincide with a groveling apology for her viral “that motherf—er is not real” rant aboard an American Airlines flight.

https://nypost.com/2023/08/14/crazy-pla ... w-project/

The Texas-based marketing executive has launched a new self-named website while also reactivating the social media accounts she deleted in the wake of her plane freak-out.

So far, the website only features her two-minute video mea culpa — in which she calls herself “the crazy plane lady,” a nickname she said “is completely warranted.”

Under the embedded video, she shares the words “Stay Tuned” in stark white font set against a black background.

It was not immediately clear what project Gomas was preparing to unveil, or when. However, her video ended with the message: “Join me on my journey of promoting positive mental health and standing up against cyberbullying.”

That also appears to be the focus of her social media activity, which as of Monday included her return to Instagram, YouTube and X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, according to the Daily Mail, which first reported the relaunch.

On X, the founder of UpperCut Marketing has chosen to follow just 16 carefully curated accounts.

They include several prominent podcasters, such as Joe Rogan and Dr. Jordan Peterson, a number of anti-bullying and mental health organizations, and a smattering of media outlets.

The marketing executive from Dallas said in her Sunday video that she wished to take “full accountability for my actions,” calling her behavior on July 2 “completely unacceptable.”

Gomas, sporting bold eye makeup, a slick hairdo and a tan jacket, expressed remorse for her unhinged antics captured on a fellow passenger’s cellphone.

“Distressed or not I should’ve been in control of my emotions and that was not the case,” she said. “My use of profanity was completely unnecessary and I want to apologize to everyone on that plane, especially those that had children aboard.”

Fighting back tears, she added, “While it has been really comical for everyone and I have highly enjoyed so many of the memes, on the flip side it is very invasive and unkind and I don’t know what I would do without the love and support of my friends and family.”

Gomas concluded her public penance by saying that she hopes to “use this experience and do a little bit of good in the world and that is what I intend to do. I hope that you guys can accept my apology and I can begin to move on with my life.”

It wasn’t the Dallas native’s first attempt at trying to explain her bizarre conduct. In her first interview with the Daily Mail last week, a defiant Gomas complained that her life has “blown up” since the incident aboard the plane — and urged the public not to “judge” her.

“My life has been blown up. It’s frightening. Things go viral and everything changes,” Gomas told the outlet, while standing in front of her $1.6 million Dallas home.

As of Monday, Gomas has returned to Instagram, YouTube and X.

“No one knows anyone else’s story, and no one should judge. No one knows what it’s like,” she continued.

Gomas, who warned that she was consulting a lawyer, claimed that “so much” of the story about her was inaccurate, but she declined to elaborate.

In the infamous video, Gomas marched to the front of the plane preparing to depart from Dallas to Orlando and declared that she was getting off the flight because “that motherf—er back there is not real.”

“You can sit on this plane and you can die with them or not. I’m not going to,” she yelled while clutching her $1,900 Goyard tote, before being removed by cabin crew.

Gomas flew into a rage after a dispute between her and a relative, whom she accused of stealing her AirPods, according to police records reviewed by The Post.

Because of Gomas’ conduct, passengers were forced to deboard Flight 1009, before being allowed to get back on, causing a delay of at least 3 hours.

Gomas was issued a warrant for criminal trespass — but was neither arrested nor charged — after police found her sitting on a curb outside the airport terminal waiting for an Uber. That followed the passenger’s several failed attempts to go back through a TSA security checkpoint and reboard the flight.

Oy: American Flight Diverts Over Pepper Spray Incident

https://onemileatatime.com/news/america ... per-spray/

As flagged by @xJonNYC, an American Airlines flight yesterday diverted due to a pepper spray incident onboard. Goodness gracious, what is wrong with people…

In this post:

American flight diverts to Jacksonville due to pepper spray discharge
So, what was the motivation for this incident?
Bottom line
American flight diverts to Jacksonville due to pepper spray discharge
This incident happened yesterday (on Sunday, August 20, 2023), and involves American Airlines flight AA1680 from Miami (MIA) to New York (LGA). Long story short, the flight diverted to Jacksonville (JAX), and ended up arriving in New York several hours late/

The cause? Well, according to the official notes published by American on the flight, it was due to pepper spray being discharged in the cabin.

An American flight diverted due to pepper spray
For a bit more commentary on this, a Reddit user shares what was apparently happening onboard, as their significant other was on the flight, and providing the play-by-play. According to this report, about half an hour into the flight, passengers and flight attendants in the back of the plane started coughing and couldn’t see.

No one knew what was happening, so the flight attendant got on the PA to state that if anyone knew what was in the air, they needed to speak up. A short time later, the decision was made to divert to Jacksonville.

When it was clear how seriously this situation was being taken, someone came forward and claimed they had accidentally used pepper spray. The claim was that they had mistaken pepper spray for something else (either sanitizer or lotion), which is of course a highly suspect claim.

At the gate, paramedics boarded the plane, and police also boarded to take statements from passengers. One flight attendant even needed additional care, reportedly. The person who fessed up to the pepper spray was reportedly a member of a four person family, and the family was escorted off, as passengers cheered.

For what it’s worth, passengers were on the ground for nearly four hours — they landed in Jacksonville at 6:39PM, and continued to New York on a different aircraft at 10:29PM, arriving over three hours behind schedule.

American Airlines’ diversion to Jacksonville
So, what was the motivation for this incident?
First of all, I can’t imagine any planet on which someone could mistake pepper spray for lotion or hand sanitizer. I’m sorry, but that’s simply not believable. It’s also worth mentioning that while the TSA bans bringing pepper spray through security checkpoints, it’s not surprising that people could pretty easily bring it onboard, since in the scanner it probably just looks like any other liquid.

So, why would a passenger intentionally pepper spray the cabin? Here’s the theory that apparently emerged:

Turns out it may be racially motivated and now AA and PD is taking the matter that much more seriously. Multiple passengers are talking about and agreeing that it was. Across from the Italian family was a Black family with a baby. A few people said they heard the spray go off and the teen son giggle about it and look across the aisle to the other family. Others are describing being asleep and waking up coughing.

A few things are being opined, that the mom is taking the blame because it’s more believable she’d make that “mistake” over her teen son, whether or not the whole family was in on it, and why was the other family targeted that way when there wasn’t any indication of a problem between them beforehand according to neighboring passengers.

While it’s entirely possible that this was the motivation, I think it’s also possible a teen just wasn’t using his brain, and thought it would be a funny prank. So while we can’t know for sure what the motivation was, the fact that there was giggling going on while this happened further supports that this probably wasn’t an accident.

A passenger discharged pepper spray on an American flight
Bottom line
Passengers traveling from Miami to New York last night on an American Airlines had an unscheduled stop in Jacksonville after pepper spray was discharged in the cabin.

The culprit reportedly claimed it was an accident, but that’s really not very believable. Police and paramedics got onboard, and the flight continued several hours late, but without the family responsible for this.

It’s disheartening how low people will stoop with their behavior. I understand teenagers sometimes like to pull pranks, but that should well short of thinking it’s okay to use pepper spray in a confined space that’s shared with others. Goodness.

“Why do journos always think there is nowhere else on an airport other than the runway!”

‘Cos airport management regard an airport as a shopping mall with convenient runways?

Runway always sounds more exciting than pan, normally used for omelettes, or apron which might be regarded as sexist, or ageist if referring to grandma’s apparel.

And of course tarmac is a trade name so we don’t want the quarry folks taking legal action for cooyright…

Manoovering area is just to difficult to spell and taxiway implies a cab rank…

Any other options as I’ve been away from the trade too long? :))

Great, I’d forgotten that one! But your US roads have the off-ramp, so again room for confusion amongst the travelling krill? =))

A Delta Air Lines passenger filmed herself taking a wild ride down a plane's emergency inflatable slide and now other people have FOMO and want to try it too

https://www.businessinsider.in/thelife/ ... 042089.cms

One passenger filmed their wild experience cruising down a Delta Air Lines plane's emergency slide, and it looked really fun.

"Soooo this happened the other day on my flight with delta," a person with the username johniquec wrote in a TikTok post on August 3.

The passenger's post included a location tag at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, suggesting that was where the incident took place.

"Come forward. Come this way," a flight attendant's voice could be heard as passengers proceeded toward the emergency slide in the video. "Come this way. Leave everything. Jump and slide."

"Woah," johniquec could be heard giggling as she went down the slide. Staff on the ground were there to help them up at the bottom of the slide.

@johniquec Soooo this happened the other day on my flight with delta crazy experience honestly so thankful that it wasnt worse that it was #atlantaairport #deltaairlines #emergencyexit #anxietyrush #thankful ♬ original sound - Kamari Mommy
In the second half of the video, johniquec said that the plane had gotten a flat tire because it had "landed so hard." Emergency personnel could be seen spraying jets of water at the area surrounding the plane's tire.

A representative for Delta Air Lines confirmed that the video was filmed on Delta Air Lines flight 1437. Flight 1437 had to deploy its emergency slides for passengers to deplane after bursting a tire while landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 2.

"Initial reports indicate that one of the aircraft's tires blew upon landing and components of the landing gear were hot," said the Delta representative. "Customers evacuated via emergency slides and were moved to the terminal via bus."

"We apologize to each for this experience – nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew," the representative added.

Some were surprised that johniquec could remain so cheerful during an emergency.

"I feel as though the presence of excessive laughter genuinely concerns me," said another person on TikTok.

But others found johniquec's experience amusing and wished they could have ridden the emergency slide as well.

"Lowkey always wanted to do that just never wanted the trauma behind having to use it, ya know?" one person said in a comment on TikTok.

I'm surprised they dumped the slides for a burst tyre. Must have been more to it than that, surely.

If someone on the ground shouted "Fire!" as soon as they saw a bit of smoke from the hot brakes the crew would have no option but to evacuate.

American Airlines passenger allegedly kicked off plane over bag space fight caught on video

https://nypost.com/2023/09/01/man-fumin ... int-at-me/

An irate American Airlines passenger allegedly got himself kicked off a flight after repeatedly complaining about a fellow traveler stashing too many bags in “his” overhead bin space, viral footage shows.

The man, dressed in a yellow t-shirt with his hair in a top knot, was caught on camera repeatedly ranting that “there’s no space” after another passenger supposedly stored luggage above him and then took their seat.

“This guy put his luggage up here, now we don’t have any space,” the enraged passenger could be heard saying in the video, which was posted on Reddit on Wednesday.

He repeated his complaints several times as travelers continued to board the plane, according to the footage.

“Now there’s no space,” the man insisted.

“He’s got no space. Look,” he added, referring to another passenger seated across the aisle who appeared to have just taken their seat.

A male flight attendant who was helping another passenger with her bags quickly intervened, pleading with the irate man to “stop.”

A video has gone viral of a passenger constantly complaining about there being too many bags in “his” overhead bin on an American Airlines flight.

In a video, the man, wearing a yellow T-shirt, could be seen ranting about the lack of space in his overhead locker.

A flight attendant, who was walking past the man, insisted he "please stop."

“Sir, I’m going to ask one more time. You need to stop with this whole luggage situation,” the flight attendant said, pointing his finger in the passenger’s face.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many previous times the flight attendant had told the man to back down.

“You point your finger at me one more time, I’m calling the police,” the enraged man shot back.

Before walking away, the flight attendant could be heard saying: “You’re going to call the police on me? Okay.”

The traveler who captured the encounter claimed the yellow-shirt-wearing man’s freak-out got him booted from the flight.

While the clip doesn’t show the man being told he has to get off the plane, it does show an employee in a high-vis vest asking his travel companion if she plans to stay on the flight.

“No I’m going with him,” the woman could be heard saying.

The man at the center of the drama then stood up and removed two bags from the storage bin above his seat.

“Ironically, he had like 4 big bags on the overhead bins,” the person who posted the video claimed.

The person who uploaded the video claimed the man had four big bags in the overhead bins himself.

The post has attracted more than 7000 “upvotes” and more than 1,000 comments.

“I left out the horrendous racist comments he made to the gentleman who put his luggage in the overhead bin.”

It wasn’t immediately clear when the video was filmed, or where.

American Airlines didn’t immediately respond to The Post on Friday.

I joined the Mile High Club on easyJet and I didn't even get her number! Man caught having sex in plane toilets with girl he'd only just met in the airport says he can barely remember her name
Piers Sawyer 'thought about the girl' and says it 'would be good to see her again'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ntact.html

The man who was filmed having sex in the toilet on an EasyJet flight to Ibiza with a woman he'd only just met has confessed that he barely remembers her name and 'didn't even get her number'.

Piers Sawyer was travelling to Ibiza to celebrate his 23rd birthday with his older brother Harrison and two friends.

He says he first saw the woman, who was sat in the row in front of him, as he boarded his 7pm Luton Airport on Friday, September 8. The pair started talking and seemingly hit it off, prompting Harrison to suggest they swap seats.

Piers told The Sun that although the pair had sex at 33,000ft and have gone viral after video of a cabin crew member catching them in the act was shared online, he never managed to get her contact details because he was 'so out of it' from drinking all day.

He admitted he has 'thought about the girl' - who described only as being 'good looking' and 23 years old - and says it 'would be good to see her again'.

Piers also revealed that after the flight EasyJet told him he was no longer welcome to fly with them. He and Harrison, 25, were forced to shell out £360 for a TUI flight to Stansted and an Uber home.

Piers Sawyer, 23, was filmed having sex in the toilet on an EasyJet flight to Ibiza with a woman he'd only just met on September 8. He has since confessed that he barely remembers her name and 'didn't even get her number'

Piers and the woman, described only as being 'good looking' and aged 23, were caught by an EasyJet cabin crew member having sex on the flight to Ibiza. Piers says after the flight the air carrier informed him he was no longer welcome to fly with them

Footage recorded on the flight showed passengers whooping and screaming with delight when the cabin crew member opened the door to expose Piers and the woman having sex.

The video taken on the flight from Luton appears to show the duo were in no mood to stop early, with the man promptly shutting the door again so they could continue.

A second clip sees them waving their arms defiantly with no hint of blushing as they walk down the aisle of the plane to their seats, while thrilled passengers applauded, cheered them on and yelled 'top girl'.

Piers, speaking to The Sun at his mother's flat in Tunbridge Wells, Kent yesterday, admitted that he doesn't even remember the woman's name.

'It just happened after a long day of drinking,' he recalled, noting how the started throwing back beers at 10am on Friday. 'I didn't even get her number.'
Passengers whooped and screamed with delight when the cabin crew member opened the door to expose Piers and the woman having sex

The single 23-year-old, who services cars at an Audi dealership, shared how the woman was sitting in front of him and Harrison when she and her friend 'turned round and started speaking to us'.

Harrison asked if they should swap seats and the woman came and sat by Piers.

He said the pair came up with the idea to have sex in the toilet about '40 minutes into the flight'. He claims there were two cabin crew members by the toilets and he is 'pretty sure they saw us walk in'.

The duo were then filmed mid-act when an air steward opened the door and exposed their antics to the entire flight.

'Because I was so out of it, I didn't really care but later on it hit me,' Piers admitted, adding that despite the pair having gone their separate ways at the baggage reclaim that he has since thought of the woman.

He also revealed that although he was on a four-day celebratory birthday trip, he did not have sex with any other women while on holiday.

His mother Elaine said she was shocked as the 'embarrassing' footage of her son was shared by pals and even discussed on ITV 's Loose Women

It comes after Piers' mother Elaine on Thursday revealed that she was left horrified after her son went viral for having sex on the plane.

Elaine, 51, has told The Sun she was shocked as the 'embarrassing' footage of her son was shared by pals and even discussed on ITV's Loose Women.

The former model said that although it is 'not something a mum wants to see', she doesn't think the pair 'were doing anyone any harm' and claims the steward 'shouldn't have just opened the door'.

'You're aware these things are going to happen at the holiday destination but you don't expect it to happen on the flight,' she told the newspaper.

'You just don't think about stuff sometimes. Yes it's embarrassing but I don't think they were doing anyone any harm.'

An EasyJet spokesperson previously told MailOnline the flight was met by police when it landed on the Spanish party island and the duo were led away.

The spokeswoman said: 'We can confirm that this flight from Luton to Ibiza on September 8 was met by police on arrival due to the behaviour of two passengers onboard.'

Section 71 of the Sexual Offences Act 2004 states that it is illegal to have sex in a lavatory to which the public has access.

Bedfordshire Police, which is responsible for policing at Luton Airport, confirmed to MailOnline that it was not involved in the response. It is also unclear whether any arrests were made in Ibiza.

Nor has it been confirmed how long Piers is banned from flying with the air carrier. MailOnline has approached EasyJet for comment.

“I’m Instagram Famous” Woman Gets Kicked Out Of American Airlines Coach

Slasher: If you are lurking, this one's for you.
:-h :-h :-bd

https://viewfromthewing.com/im-instagra ... nes-coach/

Morgan Osman was kicked off of an American Airlines Boeing 737, and she found the whole situation absurd because she says she’s “Instagram famous.” But she was flying coach.

She appears to have taken her Instagram page with 1 million followers offline since the onboard incident. I must not spend enough time on Instagram, because I had no idea who she was or that she apparently dated Britney Spears’ husband. And I’ve never head of the reality shows she’s been on (Season 5 of Oxygen Network’s Bad Girls Club? VH1’s Miami Monke?).

In the video she claims to have done nothing wrong, and says “call me a b- again” and tells a passenger to “shut the f- up.” It’s when she notices she’s being filmed that she declares herself Instagram famous.

Note before you watch that the language is not safe for work, not safe for airports, and not safe for anyone introspective about modern life.

If you prefer to watch the video with salty language bleeped out, try here. Apparently Instagram famous not only doesn’t get you an upgrade, it doesn’t prevent you from being kicked off the plane.

Now, there’s actual famous like being an A-List Hollywood celebrity. People broadly know who you are. I spent 18 years in D.C., which is often regarded as “Hollywood for ugly people.” There’s an idea known as famous for D.C.. In most of the country nobody has any idea who cabinet secretaries are, but in D.C. they’re rock stars.

I can sort of relate to Morgan Osman in a strange way, since this blog has made me famous in airport lounges (a notch below Instagram famous, and the lowest level of renown). I love it when readers come up and say hello in airports and on planes (though I’ve been approached in the men’s room of a Centurion lounge, let’s wait until we’re done with our business and wash our hands to shake hello). It’s cool to get hellos at check-in and breakfast at places like the Andaz Maui and Park Hyatt Maldives.

Just like Morgan Osman, I sometimes fly American Airlines economy on domestic trips. Unlike Ms. Osman I don’t believe I’m accorded any special privileges, other can complimentary Main Cabin Extra, priority boarding, and a free cocktail and snack, all thanks to Executive Platinum AAdvantage status. Perhaps she needs to be introduced to Instant Pass?

One immediately had to look at this video. This case has many ups and downs, in's and out's, peaks and valleys. To make a fair assessment I am going to have to watch it again.

EasyJet flight canceled because of ‘defecation’ incident

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/easy ... index.html

An easyJet flight was canceled and its passengers made to disembark after someone onboard the aircraft apparently defecated on the airplane bathroom floor.

The flight on Sunday evening from the Spanish island of Tenerife to London Gatwick had already been delayed by several hours.

Aaran Gedhu, a passenger on board, told CNN Travel the flight had already run into trouble pre-departure when the scheduled plane was switched out for a smaller aircraft, meaning some customers were turned away at boarding.

Those who made it on board, two hours after the scheduled departure, then had to wait on the ground for more than an hour while bags were offloaded because of the aircraft being overweight.

As the delay extended, the atmosphere on the packed flight was characterized by “suspense and anger,” Gedhu said.

“EasyJet planes, as they are, just aren’t very comfortable – it’s just a basic seat with okayish legroom room. So everyone was just a bit tense,” he said.

“Then, the pilot finally gave the all clear, and then he said that it will be about 20 minutes until departure,” recalled Gedhu.

“And that’s when the incident happened with the defecation.”

‘A very uncomfortable experience’
Gedhu said he was seated in the middle of the aircraft, but saw “two passengers” visit the front airplane bathroom. Then, word spread that someone had defecated on the bathroom floor. An unpleasant smell followed.

No one was happy about this situation, said Gedhu, but he says most believed the incident was an “accident.”

“Everyone was being polite to each other. There was no fighting amongst the passengers,” he said.

“It was just a very uncomfortable experience. Obviously, the plane was in an unsanitary state. So they had to get external cleaners out from the airport to clean it. So that’s when the stairs reconnected, and the cleaners came on to deep clean the flooring.”

According to Gedhu, passengers remained in their seats during the cleaning process. Afterward, the captain of the aircraft told the plane’s occupants they would have to disembark in an announcement captured on video by another passenger, Kitty Streek, who shared the video on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“It was very frustrating,” Streek told CNN Travel. “We obviously can’t prove whether the person simply had an accident or if they had done this out of anger for the delayed flight but it was hard not to be angry either way as nobody wants to be stranded in another country.”

It was another 30 minutes before passengers deplaned, according to Gedhu. He said he was put up in a hotel overnight – around 45 minutes drive from the airport – before boarding a specially scheduled “rescue” flight the following day.

EasyJet confirmed the initial delays on flight EZY8054 on October 15 occurred due to “safety reasons.”

“Some bags were offloaded to be carried on the next available flight for safety reasons, due to the aircraft being overweight,” it said in a statement.

“The flight was subsequently delayed overnight due to the aircraft requiring additional cleaning,” the statement continues. “We provided hotel accommodation for all customers however as there was limited nearby hotel availability in the area we also advised any customers who booked their own that they will be reimbursed.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and while this was outside of our control we would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”

Sunday’s flight cancellation follows several recent disruptive incidents involving bodily fluids on board airplanes.

In September, a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to turn around after a passenger had diarrhea. Earlier that month, Air Canada issued an apology after two passengers who were told to sit in seats that hadn’t been cleaned properly after being covered in vomit during an earlier flight.

CNN Travel has also reported on an incident on board an Air France flight from Paris to Toronto in which a passenger discovered potentially toxic blood and feces left over from an incident from a previous flight under his seat.
