Notams issued for the strikes on 7 and 10 June.
Strike action Aberdeen Airport
One of the Notams.....
.
This used to happen at Aberdeen occasionally in the 80's and early 90's. Bristow Helicopters had their own fire vehicle and trained personnel and were allowed to operate normally during fire service strikes. I wonder whether that is true nowadays.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I think that as helicopters in the UK could always operate public transport from unlicensed sites - eg a client's back garden - the Aberdeen based helicopters - but not any fixed-wing - could operate without fire cover as the airfield became an unlicensed airport if there was no fire cover. Again if I recall correctly, you did need the airport's permission to do so, which we had. It's all a long time ago so I may be in error.
