Very impressive control but, as Boac points out, if any matelots in the ship are armed then it looks like it could be a little like a turkey shoot.

You marines - we're looking for volunteers for a boarding party...

What do they call them? Skeeters after Sky Scooters? And the operators, skeets?

C’est magnifique, mais ce n’est pas la guerre.

"I say, old pirate chap, do you mind waiting there while I fiddle with my jet pack and come aboard? Ah, that was 'NO!' then?" :))

On the other hand, if they're arriving from a warship with big guns, one assumes that shooting at a marine with a jetpack is considered to be an excuse to let go with one of the big popguns on the front of the ship. I guess it depends on who owns the ship they're attempting to board as to whether sinking it is considered acceptable.

This is a technology very much in its infancy. I am sure that people in high places are aware of its shortcomings and will be working to eradicate them.

Even now, the example shown, had the Marine getting aboard a ship a damn sight faster than climbing up a rope ladder!

Besides any maritime applications, I'm sure that those Hooligans from Hereford are looking at using the method as an assault method.
