Oxygen leak on the ISS!

Apparently it is on the Russian side of the station! What a metaphor for our foolishness on earth.

You do realize that this 'air' is leaking into Space, contaminating it.

Now for even more excitement - from Sky news

"News agency RIA, citing audio communications broadcast by NASA, reported that Russian cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky had seen and smelled smoke.

French astronaut Thomas Presquet said the smell of burnt plastic or electronics had spread from the Russian segment to the US section, RIA added.

The space station has suffered several mishaps in recent years and on 1 September a Russian official warned the ISS could suffer from "irreparable" failures due to outdated equipment.

Cosmonauts have found new cracks in part of the ISS which could widen over time, Vladimir Solovyov, the chief engineer of rocket and space company Energia, told state media.

He also said 80% of inflight systems on the Russian segment of the structure had passed their expiry date.

What the hell is the point of that damned thing?

$100Bn $200Bn. What have we got in return?

Unmanned vehicles can do so much more. And cost so much less.

Time to de-man the **** thing and put it into a planned de-orbit. Try to crash it into the Panshir Valley or Peterhead or somesuch target.
