The article says that Ingenuity is aiming for 16 feet on its 3rd flight. A sixteen foot hover is a little on the high side for a R44. Have done a zero airspeed autorotation with 360 turn in the descent mind you from 4000 feet, so there!

Ah! I misunderstood your post. It is planned to fly on Monday.
Re: 3 For Mars
It will be a new altitude record on Mars if it succeeds.
At what point does the air get too thin?

Re: 3 For Mars
NASA's Mars helicopter Ingenuity has made its historic first Red Planet flight — and the photos are unbelievable.
The small helicopter — it's just 19 inches tall (48 centimeters) — took off Monday (April 19) on the first of what are expected to be a half-dozen flights on Mars. All told, the flight was scheduled to last about 40 seconds, team members said.
In addition to an aerial photograph taken by Ingenuity, the NASA team also received video footage from the Perseverance rover that captured the helicopter's transition as it rose up from the Martian surface, hovered briefly and then gently touching down again.
Particularly stunning is the black-and-white image taken by the helicopter itself that shows the view looking straight down at the surface of Mars. On display are rover tracks left by Ingenuity's larger companion, the Perseverance rover, as well as the shadow cast by the helicopter itself. Its boxy core and four rotors are clearly visible.

Re: 3 For Mars
And here's the video... which shows not a lot more than we have already seen but is still interesting. I would guess that the height achieved was about 4 feet above the surface with altimeter set to the crater's QFE!

NASA's Mars helicopter Ingenuity just made aviation history, and its robotic buddy caught the whole thing on video.
Early this morning (April 19), Ingenuity aced the first-ever powered flight on a world beyond Earth. The 4-lb. (1.8 kilograms) chopper rose 10 feet (3 meters) above the floor of Jezero Crater, stayed aloft in Mars' thin air for 39 seconds and came down for a pinpoint landing at its takeoff spot.
And we have high-definition documentation of this otherworldly Wright Brothers moment thanks to NASA's Perseverance rover, which recorded the flight from 230 feet (70 m) away using its powerful Mastcam-Z camera system.
"Absolutely beautiful flight!" Ingenuity project manager MiMi Aung said today during a press conference that provided details about the landmark flight and unveiled Perseverance's video.
"I don't think I can ever stop watching it over and over again," added Aung, who's based at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California.

Just for fun they should have dubbed in a Huey or something else for the sound.

At last we should be able to get an Actual. Ingenuity base now has the ICAO designator ‘JZRO’ should anyone need to submit a Flight Plan.
