The Chinese out of control again...

Not far from the Kármán line now - things will shortly 'hot up'

'The probability of causing harm... on the ground is extremely low,' Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters on Friday.
That's alright then!

Nothing confirmed yet, but it is 'thought' it 'landed' in the Indian Ocean west of the Maldives.
Re: The Chinese out of control again...
Well, I had no wish for anyone to get hurt by a Chinese junk sailing into their lives or bodies but I must admit, I did rather hope the 'landing' would result in something a little more spectacular than that apparently rather damp squib...
Mae West wouldn't have been much remembered for an uttering along the lines of 'Is that a rocket in your very distant ocean wilderness or are you just pleased to see me?

If the Chinese persist with this kind of re-entry Russian roulette, there will be a bad outcome eventually! I really despise their arrogance and stupidity.johngreen wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 7:46 amWell, I had no wish for anyone to get hurt by a Chinese junk sailing into their lives or bodies but I must admit, I did rather hope the 'landing' would result in something a little more spectacular than that apparently rather damp squib...

If it were the case that the Chinese had a monopoly on such attributes, we would surely live in a very different world.I really despise their arrogance and stupidity.
You hail from South Africa. I’m both British and Australian. We all know Americans and people from many other lands but I am sure not one of any of these can claim to produce exceptions to the general rules of humanity.
To quote a late lamented friend, Jozef, whose worldwide life journey led him to see first- hand, substantially more dubious behaviour than most folk are ever likely (or would want!) to experience, ‘Mankind is suffering from the disease of incurable stupidity - and the condition is bound to prove fatal’.

I am not denigrating all x billion Chinese, but the Chinese space authorities who have previous on this kind of thing.
As for humanity, johngreen, it sucks, and I am part of that malaise I guess...

Re: The Chinese out of control again...
It is worth remembering that the US threw Skylab back to earth. Slightly more control over re-entry, but not a lot. However, yes, China does need to sharpen up.
Re: The Chinese out of control again...
They may have missed you this time but they have eleven more launches in this series to get you.
Will they adjust their booster management? Who knows.

Surely they can get the Chump with one.....................
Re: The Chinese out of control again...
Skylab was quite a few years ago, the science has improved significantly since then and the technology exists to dump this stuff fairly safely if only they could be bothered. If anything, Skylab was probably the start of the realisation that it needed to be handled a bit more carefully.
