and half-way through the flight, no idea where they are?
How do you determine half-way in an infinite venture?
If you can define half-way then the flight becomes finite, Shirley?

If, as has been suggested, half of infinity is zero (which I would dispute), what then?

The Tan of an angle approaching 90 is approaching infinity. Similarly the Tan of an angle approaching - 90 also approaches infinity but in the opposite sense, the mid point is zero.

Or consider the mid point between infinitly large an infinitly small is also zero.

I reiterate my point that there are multiple infinities...

For example consider your statement "the mid point between infinitly large an infinitly small is also zero." This does not hold for real numbers (numbers on a number line for example) , usually the number exactly between two numbers is the mean of the two numbers divided by 2 but...(-∞+∞)/2 is not 0. The answer is indeterminate! ;)))

Halfway to infinity is still infinity...

You are using one specific example to prove a general! A classic error. If you re-draw your graph with the x axis originating at -1, both sides still go to infinity. so half infinity is now -1, no??

Now originate the x axis at infinity. What is the mid-point? Thanks for proving it :))

Thus the intersection co-ordinates for the x and y axis can positioned on any one of an infinite set of points. The position can be said to be indeterminate, as it can be anywhere on an infinite number line.

This is what I was blathering about... let us all go back to calculus 101...

Don't forget that some infinities are larger than others! :)

Usually I stutter when writing, with lots of the the's and that that's, now that that I have left the the literal 'O' out of topology, in this case the mathematics of shapes, when my writing has the proverbial shakes, what am I to do do?

In the latter case I should have said the mathematics of twisted or deformed shapes of course.
