Earlier today it was confirmed that a 60-year-old woman died after the search and rescue helicopter ditched off the coast of Norway overnight.

The Bristow-operated search and rescue (SAR) helicopter was taking part in a training exercise involving Norwegian state-owned oil firm Equinor and a cargo ship.

Norwegian media is reporting the woman killed in the crash worked as a nurse for Equinor.

The five other men on board all reportedly worked for Bristow and were transported to Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen with various levels of injury.

The hospital said on social media this morning that one man is in a critical condition, one man sustained a serious injury and three others sustained minor injures.

Odd isn't it? I guess the Norwegian Coastguard took the photos and released them to the news outlets.

Probably due to ITAR....as it is US technology.

Had to look that up - International Trade in Arms Regulations. How odd, even Sikorsky's own brochure on the S92 SAR version shows a clear view of the FLIR with a statement on the photo that "This Page Does Not Contain Export Controlled Technical Data". https://www.lockheedmartin.com/content/ ... ochure.pdf . Someone in Norway being overcautious perhaps.

Probably....I know when I was on Sea Launch, I had to attend a briefing and could not even share Microsoft word etc.....the get really picky.

One of my former students from the 90's was one of the pilots on this accident..... no doubt we will find out eventually what happened.
