Are there any wealthy private helicopter pilots?
£550.00 an hour
While it is is highly unprofessional to get involved in a debate with ATC in flight, and probably pointless thereafter, I do have a scintilla of sympathy for this guy having been forced to wait 20 minutes recently for a bunch of parachutists by an officious Airfield Information radio operator who I could have ignored as there was absolutely no risk to any party, but whose advice I was loath to defy/ignore on the basis of good neighborliness and ultimately safety, a minor delay sure, but one that cost me £180.00. I guess it is a case of "if you have to ask how much, then you can't afford it!"
A now poorer would be helicopter pilot.
ATC generally do an excellent job in increasingly congested skies and I have nothing but respect for the work they do under extreme pressure at times. This helicopter pilot's rudeness, abuse of the controller and his arrogance was worthy of a fine.
Let it be said that as a visitor to Blackpool on occasion as a fixed wing pilot I have encountered nothing but politeness and efficiency from ATC and friendliness from the ground staff as well, who let me off paying the landing fee once after a bad weather diversion.

Better to wait, listen, lookout and pay ( a little more) and avoid this kind of tragedy...

So do Blackpool no longer have ATC? Been in there many times and always did then. She should have told the stoopid parachutist in free fall to hold off.

Blackpool has a promulgated ATZ and ATC and is also PPR. The parachutists were jumping at an airfield in Kent.

While it is is highly unprofessional to get involved in a debate with ATC in flight, and probably pointless thereafter, I do have a scintilla of sympathy for this guy having personally been forced to wait 20 minutes recently for a bunch of parachutists
What a difference a word can make. Mea culpa.

Lots of rotary action from the Cheltenham direction this evening and seeing as no favourites won today, guess that bookies are using them!
When all else fails, read the instructions.
