I have been following this chap's travails en route to obtaining his helicopter pilot's licence (and now commercial helicopter pilot's licence) with some interest. He comes from a fixed wing background in the USAF and initially made good progress in the R22 until his instructor was injured and, well, let him tell his story.

His travails and his issues with DJ, and his decision not to fly with this potential rogue made sense I think. After a training hiatus he's back on track in the R44 with his original instructor.

The bit about the trailer landing crash intrigued me so I looked at the record and I was really surprised to see how many accidents of that sort are noted for the R44 as well as other types.

Accidents such as this R44 one, which was really ugly...
