AS350 Downwind approach Canada - oops!

#1 Post by CharlieOneSix » Wed May 10, 2023 2:41 pm

The guys on TOP Rotorheads are wetting themselves about whether or not the crash is due to Vortex Ring State. As one fine fellow put it - it matters little whether it was VRS or not. If you approach with a thumping great tailwind it's a cocked up approach. Note the after accident smoke direction.

Fortunately the pilot only got minor injuries. What on earth was he thinking!

It seems to be mandatory for bystanders and video takers to shout 'Oh my God!' repeatedly in clips of accidents, crashes or anything out of the ordinary in North America. Yes we can see there's been a crash... :-o :-?

Unless the pilot was undergoing a 'medical event' it must have been very obvious what was happening to his aircraft. 8-}
