Future of Scampton - again!

#1 Post by 4mastacker » Tue Jul 24, 2018 11:45 am

It looks like MOD have decided to get rid of Scampton, if the media reports are correct.

Scampton to be sold.

During the run-down of the Vulcan force the AOC 1 Group, AVM Mike Knight, came to the station to address the masses. The future role after the Vulcans had still yet to be decided and he said "Whatever the future role of the station, the RAF has learnt from previous closures, not to give up runways. Whatever becomes of Scampton, one thing which will remain in use is the runway".

Someone wasn't listening.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Runways are so 20th Century.
And in any case runway discriminates against the exercise-challenged.
The MoD will soon unveil an App which will provide complete defence for the nation. The only thing delaying it is working out how to provide diversity training for the App.

It’s the wilful disregard of a slice of British history that shits me. They should make it Class 1 Heritage listed then the buggers will HAVE to maintain it.

What is going to happen to the non reflective hound's grave?

Sismen, the reality is the infrastructure is crap in accord with infra policy; no regular maintenance only replacement of necessary.

Had a drive around a couple of years ago when I was in the UK. Spent 6 years there and I almost cried to see the state that they had let it deteriorate to.

No doubt the government will sell it all off for the usual price of 1/6d to developers who'll re-sell for gazillions.
