Mull of Kintyre crash

Those familiar with the appalling handling of the enquiry by MOD may wish to sign a petition to prevent MOD DESTROYING documents relating to the accident!! https://petition.parliament.uk/petition ... rUSykC6kMc

Brian Dixon is trying to get the petition up and running but feet are dragging somewhere in government land. I am getting slightly 'stone-walled' by the HOC Petitions Committee in an exchange of emails asking what is taking so long to 'approve' the petition.

Not that I smell a rat, of course..............

Will definitely sign when they allow the petition. Asking the authotities to allow a petition doesn't seem right though does it?

Just went to sign it and found this message 'We’re checking this petition'.

Would that be in case it doesn't embarrass any BOE members or the MOD I wonder.

+1 for signing once the petition is available.

Why don't you all follow the link and ask HMG what the problem is? I'm afraid there will be much shredding of documents at MOD.

We are with you Boac.

I suspect that the MOD have made an utter hash of this thing from beginning to end and are culpable for the many mistakes made in the chain of events leading up to the accident and all the evasions. prevarication and downright official mendacity evident after this crash. A gross miscarriage of justice is likely to have occurred here and the MOD are using every means and excuse at their fingertups to stop their role in this fiasco being analysied or reviewed any further.

Ultimately justice will prevail here, I am sure, despite the closing ranks by the "establishment".

There’s undoubtedly a MI5/Government ‘Black arts’ element to all this.

Reminds me of 'Yes Minister'. Sir Humphrey: 'The floods of 1962 destroyed so many embarrassing files.'

The reply to my query about why it is taking so long:

Dear ..........,

Thank you for your email. Petitions are checked once they have been signed by five people, and we aim to check all petitions within seven days of receiving them. We receive hundreds of petitions every week and we try to work through them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Some petitions take a little longer to check than others and often involve additional research and fact checking, and it can sometimes take longer when we are receiving a high volume of petitions.

The petition creator will be notified by email as soon as it has been checked.

Kind regards
,

How long has this taken now?

I got the same reply - not yet 7 working days, whatever they are in HoC :))

Still a whiff of rat.

In theory we are looking at tomorrow or even a 'stretch' to Friday for reasons best known to MOD. If nothing by then it must go to the media.
