Spanish Aerobatic team accident
Spanish Aerobatic team accident
Apparently the solo display pilot of the Patrulla Águila ejected from his Casa C101 into the sea off la Manga and is reported to be ok.
UPDATE: Now some confusion as to the condition of the pilot.

Re: Spanish Aerobatic team accident
Was it an impact ejection?
I wonder how far out it was from the crowd line?

Re: Spanish Aerobatic team accident
Some odd statements coming out on this accident - excuse the translation from Spanish!
"The plane, from Academy of the San Javier Air base, piloted by Commander Marin has entered a drill at high altitude.
The Ministry of Defense is confirming the death of the pilot, Commander Francisco Marín Núñez during an instructional flight."
Even allowing for the language issues, "a drill at high altitude" is puzzling, and, given that the team is most likely in the middle of a hopefully busy display season, "an instructional flight" makes little sense. In addition, HIS remains have now been recovered, and no mention of any 'instructee'.

Re: Spanish Aerobatic team accident
I have just located the display programme for 2019 and, in fact, there is gap between 27/7 and 6/9.

Re: Spanish Aerobatic t hieam accident
Could have been a pairs instruction? If course had that been the case where was the other?
Could 'instructional' actually have meant 'training'?

Re: Spanish Aerobatic team accident
Other sources suggest he was practising 'a loop' but ran out of sky, so yes, probably a mis-translate for 'training'. I don't think they have 'a pair'.
