Voyager Captain arrested for over the limit
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... t-off.html
A bit of a knees up at Akrotiri (can't believe that) followed by an early morning start and a fellow officer ratted on him. Seems as if it was revenge for waking him up with the noise. Not cricket but let us hope the Captain was an Air Tanker Special Reservist. If it was a fellow officer I wouldn't like to be in the informant's shoes.

Note the slogan in their logo.Military services police stopped the refuelling tanker as it was taxiing down the runway at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus (pictured in 2013 with a British Hurricane fighter jet landing)

Even though it is from the Mail, ex-A:
‘When people found out the drunken crew were due to fly the next day they had to brief the chain of command because at that stage there was a serious safety issue.’
I think the 'people' acted responsibly and correctly. We do not know what other efforts they made to sort it out - well you may, but I don't.

Yes indeed Boac, it is from the Daily Mail so not necessarily accurate. Let us hope that it was a last ditch effort to keep him on the ground not just a straight grass.Boac wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 7:02 amEven though it is from the Mail, ex-A:

One would hope efforts were made to persuade a sudden violent attack of sickness - the preferred route, but IF said 'Captain' fought back...............................

One assumes a Court Martial and if found guilty then some further sanction or punishment followed by a dishonourable discharge? Flying career permanently fooked!
Almost as bad as being drunk and disorderly while in charge of a YouTube video on a Sunday night!

Not necessarily GG he may not be a regular officer. If not dismissed from Air Tanker never to fly again. Otherwise as you say. And, thrown away a free A330 rating.

Even a reservist is subject to Air Force Law.

Agree PN but this is slightly different to being in the Reserves: https://www.airtanker.co.uk/voyager/one ... reservists
it will be interesting to see if he is and if so what happens.

It does say in military uniform one day and under AF Law. Depends which suit he was wearing.
I believe th e RAAF has a sort of half way house too. Engineering staff in the shed all grey suits but some are deployable in uniform. They have a higher base pay than base wallahs.

If it was a pax fit surely No 1s or 6s
I read that the fleet spare available for civil use is not required by the industry so AT are considering laying off crews, now there's one at the head of the queue.
