Airfield was too noisy!

#1 Post by ricardian » Mon Aug 16, 2021 7:46 pm

Couple lose court action over low-flying RAF planes after claiming their dream 'turned to nightmare'
The judge said
I have found that, contrary to the Joneses’ allegation, the noise got no worse in 2007. It has not become materially more noisy since they moved in.

They should stop moaning about Mona, given that their weekends will be as quiet as heaven on a Saturday night, given the somnolence that seems to descend on RAF Valley over the weekend! =))

The guy has clearly developed a bug up his arse about the training sorties! I can kind of see where he is coming from with respect to consistent night training but dazzling pilots is a very stupid thing to do and he clearly deserves his current legal travails!

He really ought to up his game.
A green laser from Amazon is probably cheaper than his "powerful torch" and can do much more damage.

Bit of an idiot tying to bring a case against the MOD with his particular criminal record.

And for some people being that close to an active airfield is the stuff of dreams.

If HMQ can put up with it because they built Windsor Castle so close to Heathrow, then surely a mere commoner could put up with the aircraft noise :D

Woody, probably better insulation in the castle than at Sandringham. When the boss is there for her summer hols there is an exclusion zone.

Also a bit easier to chuck an exclusion over Sandringham than Windsor. :-o

It’s also a lot quieter , especially after getting rid of all those aircraft whose engines were named after British rivers :-o

A lot of people bought houses at Dyce, back in the late 70s early 80s and then complained about the noise from the airport. Aberdeen Council solved the problem by paying them dosh to fit double glazing and that seems to quieten the complaints.

A little noise can be extremely annoying to some people. Peter Maxwell Davies, the composer, lived on Hoy, Orkney. We had a short term contract to service a drilling rig to the north west of Orkney and the flight path from Dyce took us right over Hoy but only a few times a week. Next there came a firm instruction from Ops to avoid Hoy by a wide margin - the Bell 214ST was a very noisy machine and Maxwell Davies a very strong and influential voice to put it mildly! X(

I love the description of his music - to my untutored ear it just sounded like the stuff that North Koreans might play to their captives. ~X(

He moved to Sanday, just a few miles from chez Ricardian, and fell out with Orkney Islands Council when they refused to allow the registrar on the island of Sanday to perform a civil ceremony. OIC then turned nasty and effectively shut down the passenger-carrying miniature railway that the registrar had been running for some years
OIC being difficult!
