Just high spirits.

Guess they are up there because Akrotiri is busy.

They were scheduled to display at Torbay (amongst other places) on June 4th and 5th, do they have a reserve to sub for the ex-Red, possibly one of last years team?

There should be no problem in replacing if necessary in terms of available bods, but the biggest issue would be the disruption to the training and display approval required. They already replaced Red 8 in January with last year's Red 6, but that gave them plenty of time. Since they only arrived, I think on 5/5 in Greece via Croatia, this 'upset' is pretty time-crucial.

I think they have included my favourite 114 FW in Tanagra in their training schedule for some time

Yes, oh dear! This is bad. It has just been announced that this season will be a 7-ship. https://www.air-shows.org.uk/2022/05/ai ... p-in-2022/

Should soon be able to reduce the number of suspects to 2...............or possibly even 1...

The MOD page has yet to catch up!

MOD still showing 9 pilots - 'IT' probably all on the golf course

I cannot quite fathom the lack of action on the MOD web page regarding the 'pilots'. Either they just cannot bring themselves to publicise the 'offender' or they are having second thoughts. The page should normally have been taken down for 'maintenance'. Odd.

How big a crime do you have to commit to be rusticated by the Reds,

;)))

We can only guess at this stage, but 'behaviour unbecoming...' is an option. Patience, Sir, and I'm sure this modern world of communication will tell us.

Goat shagging in the main square?

Not in Greece but behaviour unbecoming of a Royal Air Force Officer. Especially if was cheered on by the rest of the team.

Does the manoeuvre require coloured smoke?

Back on a more serious note than goat shagging (OK, ex-A, I know that is a serious matter for you :))), I do wonder if the declared intent to fly a nine-ship for fly-pasts and the retention of the '9' faces on the web might indicate an option for a good beating by the SWO behind the Scampton bike sheds and a return to the team to remake a nine-ship display? Thinking 'innocent until proved'....etc?

I have had the pleasure of bumping into the Reds on two occasions, the first one being at Exter when I was delivering my ex boss's Tampico for maintenance at Exeter and they had just landed and had the opportunity to walk and talk on the walk to the terminal. Nice guys all, and all at the top of their game. Second time at Farnborough on a corporate day where my better half flirted outrageously with all of the team at a meet and greet. I didn't have the heart to be jealous. ;)))

They are an asset to Britain.

Boac, obviously you know better than any other here. Surely a 9 ship cruise by is relatively easy (well not for me) but a full aerobatic display of 9 is a little more difficult. Thus the 7 this season without intensive training.

Of course, but I am trying to reconcile the odd 'behaviour' on the MOD page with events. Normally if a fatal or other serious 'removal' of a member happens, the page is normally either temporarily taken down or quickly changed.

Εχ-Α isn't the difficulty of a routine practically the same for a 7 or a 9 ship ones? Or to put it a bit differently, can you take two ships out of a 9 ship display and fly it relatively easy?

It all hinges on who has 'gone' and then the adjustment is made. If it is one of the synchro pair, it will most likely be a sole 'synchro'. If, say, No 4 or 8 goes, No 5 or 9 may also, sadly, be stood down. If 2 goes, the team will need to work up with 4 moving up to 2 etc. - a lot of work to be done. Then the 'shapes need to be looked at and probably changed. The loss of 1 or 2 ships will mean a change in the whole display too. No easy task at this stage of the work up. In 'normal' times, the loss of 1 jet through tech or sickness could well mean an asymmetric shape or three but possibly the same show. A 'pre-planned' 7 ship is a whole different thing.
