Lieutenant Commander Gordon Gray, Royal Canadian Navy - RIP

#1 Post by CharlieOneSix » Tue Apr 17, 2018 9:05 pm

53 years ago as a nervous Sub Lieutenant straight out of flying training I arrived in Singapore to join my first Squadron. My first trip was a "Round The Island" familiarisation and my mentor in the other seat, Gordon, was a Royal Canadian Navy pilot on an exchange tour with the RN. For some reason that flight is as fresh in my mind today as if it happened yesterday and was the first of many with him, memories of which have almost all become blurred with the passing years. He came to our inaugural annual Squadron reunion in the UK in 2003 and had planned to return again a few years later but illness precluded that.

On Saturday in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gordon came home from his last dialysis session of the week and said he was tired. He took a nap in his favourite chair and sadly did not wake from his sleep. He was 79. Blue skies, Gordon.
