John Smith...yes, John Smith

Tough tracking down a name like that - try googling it...

Anyway, J J A Smith (John Jacot) flew Aztecs out of GCI in the early 70s; I raised this on the other bored and although the name rang a bell nobody knew of his current whereabouts

He had previously been groundcrew in the RAF, then flew Hunters, then moved onto civilian Argosies, then to GCI and that's where I lost him

Wrote fairly successful aviation novels too, and my best bet at the moment is Cinderford, although he may have been involved with an aviation museum in Wales

Reason being I think he still owes me ten bob

I knew of a John Smith who used to be involved in aircraft deliveries, mainly small twins from memory. This was in Guernsey in around 1984/85. This John Smith also was an author.
