He used to be my captain on Valiants. Before that he was on Canberras at Honington and Cyprus followed by the simulator at Marham. He flew Valiants initially on 18 and then 90 Sqn which was when were together. When the Valiants folded he went and flew Brittanias for a few years interposed with a tour in ops at Akrotiri

There then followed many years as a simulator instructor at Honington for the Buccaneer and then at Wattisham on the Phantom simulator there finally retiring in 1992.

His wife, Joan, pre-deceased him by only a few weeks which would have probably sent him on his way.

There will be a Service of Thanksgiving on Thursday 16 May at 1130 at St Mary the Virgin Church, High Street, Ixworth, Bury St Edmunds Suffolk.
