Clearly the rumours of his demise/ disappearance were exaggerated!

Phil Spector,
A brilliant producer, "The Wall of Sound" changed much,
But a flawed character.

Ah Memories.
This tune will forever be associated with the bus to Ladies Mile.
Our 1st summer at Akrotiri, I only had a provisional driving licence so we were dependent on the bus to get to the beach.
The bus had a 45rpm record play fed into its radio, and 'Da Do Ron Ron' was the drivers favourite.
After I passed my Cypriot Motorcycle test, we never went to Ladies Mile again. A candidate for the most boring beach in the world.
But safe for kids.

Here's one of the Crystals in action - I'm instantly back and wallowing in nostalgia. I wonder what the woke whiners would say about the go-go girls. They'd probably find something else to moan about too, but thanks to the seriously off beam Spector for producing some memorable music.
Re: Departed during 2021
Where are those girls now?

None were bumped off by Spector but it got nasty and complicated as these things seem to do sometimes. It wasn't until I read the group's wiki that I realised why I couldn't recognise the girls from one photo or clip to the next!

Embassy siege journalist dies.
In 1980 he and a BBC team were in the Iranian Embassy in London collecting visas when it was seized by gunmen opposed to Ayatollah Khomeini. A standoff and siege followed, with Chris among 26 hostages.

Sorry to hear it. Mr King was, latterly, the authoritative CNN voice.

Nathalie Delon, beguiling French actress noted for Le Samouraï, and a fixture in the gossip columns
She and her former husband, the star of French film Alain Delon, remained close but their marriage was stormy.
Quel dommage

For followers of Scottish comedy - a sad loss.

Re: Departed during 2021
We saw Andy Gray many years ago at His Majesty's Aberdeen when City Lights toured. A great night. Gerard Kelly played Willie Melvin in that and we also saw him in Rikki and Me which celebrated the life of Rikki Fulton. Another great night, especially so as we sat next to Billy Connolly for the performance. Sadly Gerard Kelly died age 51 of a brain aneurysm.
It won't mean anything to those south of the border but the last surviving member of the Scotland The What? comedy trio, Buff Hardie, died last month at the age of 89. Mostly spoken in the Doric dialect of north east Scotland I think it took me about three theatre perfomances before I got the gist of what they were saying. Watch this old video of the late Stephen Robertson as the manager of the Ballater Toy Shop phoning Princess Diana at Balmoral and you will see what I mean about the Doric being an acquired taste.......

Our local decorator in rural Aberdeenshire was also the Scottish ABA Featherweight Champion and worked like a Dervish. He spoke at the same speed in broad Doric so I had to leave Mrs FD2 to deal with him - at least she could get the gist of what he was saying. He worked straight through from 8 to 12 and even refused his 'fly' (mid-morning cuppa and biscuit). The afternoon session was at the same speed through to 5 with a break of about 15 minutes for his sandwich. We certainly felt we got our money's worth from the guy!
His brother was the local blacksmith and settled the debt of someone owing him money by a swift punch in the chops after losing patience with the 'discussion'. Saturday nights in the local towns were lively affairs with numerous amateur fights after closing time. People used to disappear 'first footing' for days on end.
We took the kids to see Rikki Fulton in panto at the King's - what a great evening - but deafening in a theatre full of children screaming 'behind you'!
