Colin Hughes - RIP
Colin Hughes - RIP
For any DanAir/BA folk on here, I have today had the sad news that Colin has died in Angelsey after a long illness. 'Effin' Hughes was an amazing character, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went and an excellent pilot. A pleasure to work with.

737, EOG. Too 'old' for BA in 1992 . He fortunately retired before all the big changes at LGW.
He also skippered the Nimrod crew that won the Fincastle ASW Trophy in 1973, beating all UK crews AND the 'rest'!

I'm saddened but not surprised. He was looking rather frail at the Coastal Command reunion in Nov '14 but as vociferous and rumbuncious as ever. My thoughts are with Isabel this evening.
Colin and I went through the Shack MOTU on the same crew in 1964.

Laid to rest on Friday last. By all accounts a good 'dispatch'. I hope someone has briefed St Peter for his admission interview..........
