Those were the days!
Those were the days!
Whilst contemplating my (very attractive, of course) navel this am, I was reminiscing of the days of my yoof (50s and 60s) - when I were an Ian Allan supporter and avid spotter - and trying to recall the amzing number of companies producing 'heavy metal' fixed wing aircraft. I'll start the ball rolling and please add as appropriate:
Avro
Airspeed
Beagle
Blackburn
Boulton-Paul
Bristol
de Havilland
English Electric
Fairy
Hawker
Percival
Saunders-Roe
Scottish Aviation
Supermarine
Vickers
Westland
Amazing! That's 16 and I am bound to have missed a few.

The British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) was a British aircraft manufacturer formed from the government-pressured merger of English Electric Aviation Ltd., Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft), the Bristol Aeroplane Company and Hunting Aircraft in 1960.Alisoncc wrote:How could you miss out Britten-Norman - The venerable BN2A.

Re: Those were the days!
Slingsby - well, might not quite qualify for 'heavy metal' but does for the fixed wing bit.
It's always my fault - SWMBO
