Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre - Bad News..

A country that forgets its heritage has lost its way... Anon.
“To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?”

11 APR 2023 —

As many of you have observed in press reports and social media outlets, we have had to face the outcome we have been battling so hard to avoid.

We were still negotiating with Senior Officials of Cornwall Council until last week for another extension which would have seen us open our doors for Easter. The income would have helped boost our fundraising for the construction of a new site opposite the Air Ambulance Station. Sadly, we didn’t get a positive decision from Cornwall Council as we had already had one extension and they have 'airside' customers awaiting our particular part of the airfield.

This outcome has resulted in our £1million investor retracting their funding after they concluded that CC were able to support the museum to the level required to make our move viable.(Despite us finding an alternative location, receiving a favourable pre-planning application from the Council themselves, attracting investment and creating a viable business plan).

Devastatingly, this has given us no option but to focus our efforts on extracting our exhibits from the HAS as quickly as possible, whilst finding new homes for our aircraft collection. The majority of which are now lined up next to the VC10 awaiting collection or dispatch. The. Council have kindly allowed us to use this area on a temporary basis but have fallen short of being able to provide temporary undercover storage anywhere on the airfield, so this is an issue for some of our more delicate and important historical airframes.

In a world where young people often struggle to see the positives in the world - whilst fed negative news on a daily basis, our 7 year mission to provide entertainment, enlightenment, education & inspiration to children and young people has been a successful one.

Some interesting aspects mentioned in this yt video, runs ~21min but quite watchable at 1.5x
Comments are worth reading also.
Did you know that Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre has been destroyed by Cornwall Council? I didn't either, until a friend sent me a link to read about their plight. In this video I dive right into what's gone on, and to be quite frank... It doesn't make any sense at all.
What is going on at Cornwall Airport? Council DESTROYS Aviation Heritage Centre

+1

Meanwhile the ludicrous, local Cornwall government and council Spaceport sits high and dry without any launch customers after Virgin Orbit went into Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Thanks for posting that. The video says it all! ~X(

The chap in the video correctly also notes the ludicrous Cornwall Spaceport.
