What I was tying to get at is that we are all quick to decry Ms TCT but what can we do to help ladies like Ms Harrison fulfil her dream...? That is it is easy to pull somebody down (no matter how much TCT deserves this) but we should help others folks up as well.

The best way to 'help' these folk is to bring down charlatans like T C-T so the funding goes to the right people.

Not knocking the showing up the charlatans ethic at all by the way.

Your process flow is logical but misses the initial step, i.e. contact Ms H to see if she is still minded to undertake the flight as planned. Never tell sponsors, potential or otherwise, why they are wrong but always let them know why they can be right.

An interview in Singers on her way to Australia seems to have come to light where she states:
'An old friend from the Air Force also gave me his original RAF Wings that I pin to my flight suit'.

Totally out of order. On her hat, on her knickers or whatever but not over her left tit. She seems to be of the impression that if 'in her day' the Royal Air Force had accepted females for pilot training she would now be entitled to wear this brevet. Excuse me but who says that she would have made officer selection with such lack of integrity. Or indeed made pilot selection with her propensity to prang, sometimes into perfectly innocent stationary objects on the ground in excellent visability. Lack of spacial awareness is not becoming of a potential Royal Air Force pilot. Or indeed dropping the 'Royal' when refering to such a fine institution. I honestly wondered which 'Air Force' she was refering to.

The mind boggles at doing something like that.

it's like wearing a Royal Marines Green Beret having been given it by a mate.

She is a guest speaker at the Brooklands Trust Members' annual dinner.

I won't be there, I don't do fancy dinners and anyway will not be in the country, but I think it could be embarrassing if she is challenged.

The BTM annual black tie/ white overall dinner is traditionally held in the presence of our President Sir Stirling Moss and Lady Moss.

We are pleased to announce that the after dinner speaker this year will be the aviatrix - Tracey Curtis-Taylor. No doubt she will be telling us about her latest adventures including her mishap in America which necessitated her Boeing Stearman being rebuilt.

Unfortunately it is a speech not a presentation so no question time.

She was made an honorary Lt Cmdr.


I think in all but a few cases, Honorary ranks or presentations of Berets etc etc are a wank.

Two that I can think of that I give credit to are

Terry Peck, a Falklands Islander who helped 3 Para throughout the campaign (even as a scout) and was presented with
a Red Beret afterwards - that he said meant more to him than any gong he got.

was presented with his Green Beret. He then went to Afghanistan with the RM for a tour and accompanied
