Three-letter codes.

#1 Post by G-CPTN » Wed Apr 28, 2021 9:20 pm

Military aircraft during WWII were allocated three-letter alpha codes that were painted on the sides in large letters.

Anybody have an insight into the structure of these letter-codes?

This might help:
The RAF used three-letter codes to identify aircraft from a distance.
Two letters before the roundel, for the squadron to which the aircraft belonged,
and another letter after the roundel for the individual aircraft.
