The DH106

Found this on TOP. I never even knew this restoration existed but just look what they done to it.

And that leads one to a 25 min video, worth a look if you can ignore the colonial slant.

This is interesting too a 360degree view more representative of how they looked in service.

I hope they can somehow store in a hangar over winter, even in a kind climate an aircraft of her years will suffer.
The flight engineers panel is certainly pre digital.

Lots of useful working surfaces in the cab.

Restoration is excellent. Such a pretty aircraft.

Thanks for the post.

The flight engineers panel is certainly pre digital.

I look at it now and try to remember what it was all for apart from the obvious.
Naturally, considering the C1 age it was a pretty standard English set up. regulated 28vdc with rotary inverters for 115v 440hz where required. I seem to think there were just two of them. The engine starters were 200vdc things in the engine nose cone that drew an amp or two. For starting without support one of those levers switched a giant wafer switch and 5 of the six batteries were connected in series for the starter the one remaining for ignition. It was a full battery change on return to base. We used to like that.

Comet first successful jet airliner? What about the Tu104 which I believe for a couple of years was the only jetliner in service anywhere? "First to go into service", a nice way to put it!
Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.
