I'm a lapsed BCAR Section 'L' licence holder. Licence number 17270, Type Rated in Paragraphs 9 (Electical Systems) 10.1.3 (B707 Multi-Category instruments, Compasses & Autopilots) and 10.1.6 (B737 Ditto)

Approvals on B707-436, B707-336, B747-136, B747-236, B737-3M6, B757-200 series, B767-200 & -300 series (PW & CF6), F27-500 series and F28-100 series.

I haven't seen a Form 700 since July 1977 and we civilians don't write jokes in the Aircraft Technical Log because we're too professional.

That and the fear of getting the sack. ;)

I did have a BCAR A.C.X until I became a European, now have B1,B2,C. Unfortunately not current due to unserviceable knees and eyesight, now I just do stuff on lap tops.

Oops! It should of course be spelled "Electrickery Systems"

Never bothered with Part 66 as I was "Management" when the change occurred. The last time I signed off a CMR was in '89.

I know what you mean, I was QM at the time of change, didn't want to lose it so transferred, have used it up to quite recently, not as a full time job but often to help out, but never know when it might come in handy.

I am CAA LWTR 22366 Electrics, Instruments, Autopilot, Combined Category Instrument/Autopilot, Radio communication, Navigation and Radar. Due to a life in the UK in an Approved maintenance organisation I never had the need for a type rating. On conversion my Licence changed and is now A, B2 and strangely C.
Company Approvals held have been Boeing 707,727, 737,2,3,4, 747-200, 757, 767. Airbus Industrie A300B4, A320 series both engines, A330 series GE & RR. Bac 1-11 series, BaE 146 200 & 300, Bae 748, DC10, -10 & -30. Fokker F100. I could add the DH106 4,4b and 4C but that was only Radio and a very long time ago.
Most of which comes from working for a long time for a third party maintenance organisation.
A guess - is form700 what I would call a tech log ?

The F700 is more complicated than a Tech Log, benefit is a universal system used on all types, not the way we do things with a different layout and content for each operator and type.

Seeing that list, and having never come across any of those forms, I understand the confusion! For the GA aircraft I've looked after, it's a "workpack" that we never see and handwritten entries in the aircraft logbooks. There are several sections with different coloured pages to make it easier.

Keef, I left the mob in 1976, have spent the past 8 years contracting in civil airworthiness and quality, including a return to the military environment with a contract for 3 years as a part time Airworthiness Surveyor for the MAA carrying out mil145 audits, found that the complexity of systems in use staggering in comparison to the simple and effective way of achieving the same in civilian aviation.

For years I was "The College Boy" most of the rest were Forces or Woodford.

I see you were 748 typed, I worked with ex Manchester Dan Air Budgie LAME with JEA/Emerald and I dare say we have common acquaintances, I repped two A300 C checks for CEX at FLS in 2000 if you were there then.
I took my first CAA exam at Ringway in 1979, (AEC2), working at Blackpool with BIA at the time

When I was communicating with a tame engineer at Northolt trying to develop a protocol for remote signing off of no damage bird strikes, the file was called "Bird Murdering".

Whilst I didn't write it up, the cover of the emergency hatch was loose. Our engineers solution was to wrap it in speed tape. :D (Remembering the well known flow chart resulting in WD40 or Speed tape.)

Dare say we will have common acquaintances, true. I was always a Line engineer and in 2000 a Shift Supervisor but it was also my 'Bad Time' when I was having blackouts and not allowed out of the office. There are massive holes in my memory for 18 months around then and I don't remember those checks although I would probably have been involved.
I retired in 2008, early, but I didn't fancy the Tommy Cook regime at all.

Spent 6 weeks there with two C checks back to back, nice relaxed place, still bump into someone from that time around the tracks, were you on the line with Arthur Rutter? I worked with him in the Brab hangar at Filton before it closed.

The reason for the licence bragging lies in the header for the topic - but as it goes on to say, if you don't have one, a driving licence will do.

I did find it ironic that the topic mentions AME licences with reference to the Good old Form 700.
