My passports, visas driver's lic are all on my desktop computer at home.
My company also has my passports on their files.

Since these days you really need to carry your passport for airline travel, it is sensible to ensure it goes with you down the slide rather than your having to scrabble in the locker for it in the smoke and confusion. Likewise cards and cash - the thought of being 'dumped' somewhere with nothing is far from re-assuring, and the 'morning after' the airline has (hopefully) hotelled you, what then?
