US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
Re: US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
Flying around the US and the Caribbean.
Re: US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
Places visited included Miami, Long Island, the BVI, St Maarten, fuel stop in New Orleans and finally, San Francisco.

More pics. Looks like the compression is distorting the images.
Re: US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
Some more. It was a contrast to go from the warm Caribbean sunshine to the cold over in the west.
Re: US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
There was a lot of snow around Utah etc.
Unfortunately, the weather in SFO was not conducive to sight seeing.

reddo - IMG3642. Looks like Terrance B Lettsome Airport in the BVI on the tip of Tortola. Haven't flown in there since the 80s - Twotters and 748s - when it was known as Beef Island Airport. Many happy memories of the nearby Peter Island resort. Enjoyed it so much I tried to set up a helicopter transfer service to Peter Island et al but failed. I think they now have such a service.

It still is Beef Island. We stayed at Wyndham BVI Lambert Beach resort. Lovely.

My necessaries are embark'd: farewell. Adieu! I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

Aha! Air BVI with the Dan Dare 748s? One of my abiding memories was that it seemed to rain every afternoon at about 1600. Maybe it was the time of the or summat - don't know. The guy who ran Air BVI had the unforgettable name of Elihu Rhymer - nice guy. Did you ever meet him, C16?CharlieOneSix wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 5:30 pmreddo - IMG3642. T15 - no never met him but I do recall they were Dan's 748s to/from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Went into Virgin Gorda as a pax on Twotters a couple of times - quite exhilarating. The approach is reminiscent of 33 at Sumburgh but with a better weather factor!

Re: US & Caribbean Dec and Jan.
Twotter? pfffft! We did that in a 748, but landed at the opposite end. Just to show it could be done, as a demo. There would rarely have been enough pax to fill a 748 anyway.

Great photos Reddo! Expect to be back in NYC in May, Nassau shortly thereafter, then on to Eleuthera Island...
