Oh dear....this is terribly sad...and distressing...I rarely ever ever come into AA...and then to read this...

I do hope & pray someone hears from him soon...

In TRABB someone said he posted at TOP a week ago which is a good sign. Truly, falling heavily for the wrong damn woman can eventually drive a bloke to do sh!t he'd never ever consider doing.

And Fly is a very good fella indeed.

G-CPTN - I posted on TRABB #2818 about flynverted being active on TOP on 23 October. Here's a screenshot taken just now which shows that he has been active there since then on 29 October. He didn't post on either of those occasions and hasn't posted there for about a year.

I suppose there's a possibility that, having maybe seen our concern, our favourite mod there is winding us up by altering the activity date..........

Ah - my search was for p*sts - not 'log-ins' so I concede my assessment was incorrect.

Thanks for that Charlie. I doubt the mad mod would sink so low as to fudge an activity date - especially in a serious concern such as this.

I just sent Fly an email via the Ops-normal facility here. I'll report if I hear anything.

I echo that sentiment. Such an action would be lower than even they can stoop.

Let's hope the dude is sitting in some bar between Barstow and Nothing on his way to Somewhere Better, with one hand on a good looking woman's rump with a shot of tequila in the other and with a big "feck it, life ain't that bad smile on his dial"...

STOP PRESS:

Email just received from Fly. Still alive but still depressed as buggery. I haven't sent a reply to him yet. Will do so tomorrow. B-)

Probably the worst piece of advice I could have given the poor chap. I find that alcohol makes me profoundly depressed. I am glad he is in contact and wish him the best.

I was talking to a colleague of mine yesterday and we were talking about depression and breakups and she told me that she had been severely depressed after a breakup and had been prescribed an antidepressant by her doctor which she has become addicted to and has been unable to come off it due to the severe withdrawal symptoms and that she is now suffering heart palpitations which is really worrying. Quite shocking really and a warning to keep clear of chemical solutions to emotional problems if at all possible.

I do believe in a balance. Chemicals like alcohol or coffee have their place but they need to be a part if a plan for instance starting a new hobby is a nice way to recover

I never drink alcohol when I am 'home alone'.

I was told once this is a suspicious statement.

I haven't replied to Fly's email yet as he's still very depressed, and I got no idea what to say. Everything I've had to say has been said. I want to invite him to our place in Thailand to recover a bit but I dunno if in his present state of mind whether or not he might do something dumb while being here.

Might just reply to come back to the forum, read my last PM to him (which is still in my outbox) and say a few words here.

My last PM to him is still in my outbox (or was yesterday anyway.)

I would love to help in some way but I am not sure what we can do beyond offering a hand of friendship.

Shooting a couple of plaster gnomes would probably do him the world of good. :-bd
