Socks !

Why, from a pair of socks, does one go into holes while the other remains more or less intact ? I have numerous single socks in the drawer where the partner has been sent to the rubbish bin looking like lace from Bruges. One sock always wears out first, but why ?

Could be because of assymentric toenailery or that one hoof is a tiny wee bit bigger than the other for the exact same shoe size. Also any gait in walking can have an effect.

I buy a bunch of identical ones (for when I'm in jeans, that is) and throw away the ones that do not qualify any more. No problem with pairing.

Me too, I have about 20 plain navy blue socks, slowly reducing as they eventually wear into holes, but not equally as worn, as noted. Never "pair" them after washing, just throw them all into the sock drawer and just pick the first two that come to hand ( or should that be foot ? )

Happy to wear them at all times, saves Indecisive Brain Power and not worried about the Fashionistas, tho' I might wear a black pair at a funeral, out of respect for the recently deceased, and occasionally white with sports "Trainers", but plain white don't need to be "paired", either.

The only ones that need some 'sorting' are the toe socks that are wonderful and comfy.

I have only very limited supplies of my preferred sock Probes hon because the bastards stop making them as soon as they know I like ‘em. When I go back to the store for more pairs it’s either they’re sold out and/or don’t make that make anymore.

When I get back after wearing I bung each sock into its respective shoe - as these rare comfy ones I have are individually designed padded and tailored for each L and R foot.

I had 6 Nike socks, 3 left and 3 right, each carefully label with an L or R.

I have lots of different coloured black socks. Different patterns and lengths too.
