The choice between Trump and Clinton was a lose / lose proposition.
I am glad to see Trump in the rear-view mirror.
You will be glad to have the pleasure of watching "The Trump Show" for years to come. It will even have its own spinoffs as Javanka, Don, JR, and Eric engage in whatever buffoonery they can to try to be relevant. The news will probably have a Trump segment almost daily to follow his impeachment hearings, possible indictments in GA for election tampering, financial trials over bank fraud, and with West Palm Beach over his residency at Mar-A-Lago.
I hope you enjoy the show(s).

Quote from James Comey, former FBI Director:
“The country needs to find a way to heal itself and the new president needs the opportunity to lead and heal us — both literally and spiritually,” Comey said. “And that will be much, much harder if the Donald Trump show is on our television screens every single day in the nation’s capital.”
Kinda like what I said ref: The Trump Show above.

Armed man arrested near Capitol with unauthorized inauguration pass, 500 rounds of ammo
The suspect, Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, was stopped in a Ford pickup truck with gun-related decals.

A Virginia man was arrested at a Washington checkpoint near the Capitol with an "unauthorized" inauguration pass, a gun and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, according to Capitol police.
The suspect, identified as Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, was stopped at the checkpoint near Lower Senate Park about 6:30 p.m. Friday, an arrest report said. An unregistered gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found inside the truck that was adorned with gun decals days ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, according to Capitol Police.
The man described the situation to the Washington Post as "an honest mistake." Beeler said he has been working as a security guard in downtown Washington, was running late and forgot that his gun was in the vehicle. He said he's licensed to carry in Virginia.
He denied to the Post that he had all that ammunition.
Beeler, of Front Royal, Virginia, allegedly presented an "unauthorized Inauguration credential" to a Capitol Police officer, authorities said. They did not describe what sort of document he showed that raised suspicion.
The arrest comes after the violent Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol where supporters of President Donald Trump and his unfounded claims of election fraud stormed the building in a violent siege that left five people dead and many more injured.
The suspect's Ford F-150 pickup displayed weapons-related stickers, including one that read, "Assault Life," and another that said, "If they come for your guns Give 'Em your bullets first," police said.
Beeler allegedly declared that he had a Glock handgun under an armrest, and a subsequent search found nearly 550 rounds of ammunition, including a loaded magazine, clipped into the Glock, with 16 rounds, authorities said. An additional round was in the chamber of the handgun, they said.
He was booked on suspicion of carrying a weapon without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition, according to police.
News of the arrest Saturday came as protesters, some armed, descended outside state capitals, including in St. Paul, Minnesota and Austin, Texas.
On Friday the Texas Department of Public Safety announced it was closing the state capitol and nearby grounds from Saturday through Wednesday.
"The Texas Department of Public Safety is aware of armed protests planned at the Texas State Capitol this week and violent extremists who may seek to exploit constitutionally protected events to conduct criminal acts," public safety director Steven McCraw said in a statement. "As a result, DPS has deployed additional personnel and resources to the Capitol."
The U.S. Postal Service said in a statement that blue collection boxes at several locations across the country "will be temporarily removed as a security measure to protect the mail and the public."
The inauguration-related removals apply to select locations in 14 states, including Arkansas, Arizona and California, the service said. In Washington, D.C. the postal service is temporarily removing or locking boxes, closing some facilities and suspending delivery for much of next week.
Boxes near the capitol in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, will be "taken out of service" Tuesday through Thursday, local postal officials said in a statement Saturday.
In Sacramento, California, the California Highway Patrol was on tactical alert, which allows for longer shifts, in preparation for inauguration-related protests.
On Friday Daniel Baker of Tallahassee, Florida, was arrested by the FBI authorities after allegedly issuing a "call to arms" for an armed confrontation at the Florida Capitol on Sunday. The region's federal public defender did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"He specifically called for others to join him in encircling any protestors and confining them at the Capitol complex using firearms," the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Florida said in a statement.
Police in Charleston, South Carolina, said Saturday they responded to minor vandalism, including putty placed on a door handle and lock, at the Charleston County Democratic Party Headquarters, authorities said.
Investigators found flyers on scene that read, "the world is watching," and that had profanity about President-elect Joe Biden, police said.
More than 100 people have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 riot. A criminal complaint unearthed Saturday revealed details of federal allegations against Anthime Joseph Gionet, known on social media as "Baked Alaska."
Allegations include "violent entry" and "disorderly conduct" at the Capitol. An affidavit states that Gionet livestreamed video of the Capitol invasion and said, "Unleash the Kraken, let's go," while he was inside the building.
On Saturday the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee announced the Capitol riot-related arrest of Lisa Eisenhart. "Charges include conspiring with her son, Eric Munchel to violate federal statutes," the office tweeted.

A woman pretending to be “part of the presidential cabinet” was arrested at an inauguration checkpoint in Washington, D.C., on Saturday morning.
Linda Magovern, 63, was charged with impersonation of a law enforcement officer, failure to obey and fleeing a law enforcement officer after she presented herself at the checkpoint while in a car, NBC Washington reports.
Magovern displayed “a round metallic object later identified as a Military Police Challenge Coin,” and said she was part of law enforcement, according to a police report. After initially complying when asked to park her car, Magovern drove off when then asked to provide her license, according to a police report obtained by NBC News.
Officers eventually stopped her and took her to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.
DC police did not return a request for comment and it was not immediately clear if Magovern has an attorney.
Her arrest comes as security has been dramatically increased in D.C in the wake of the Capitol riot and with the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden just a few days away. The National Guard increased troop levels to 25,000, as much of the city is under lockdown, with restricted traffic and checkpoints.

FBI probing if foreign governments, groups funded extremists who helped execute Capitol attack
As part of the investigation, the FBI is examining payments of $500,000 in bitcoin to key figures and groups in the alt-right before the Jan. 6 riot.

WASHINGTON — The FBI is investigating whether foreign governments, organizations or individuals provided financial support to extremists who helped plan and execute the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, one current and one former FBI official told NBC News.
As part of the investigation, the bureau is examining payments of $500,000 in bitcoin, apparently by a French national, to key figures and groups in the alt-right before the riot, the sources said. Those payments were documented and posted on the web this week by a company that analyzes cryptocurrency transfers. Payments of bitcoin, a cryptocurrency, can be traced because they are documented on a public ledger.
Separately, a joint threat assessment issued this week by the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and various other federal and D.C.-area police agencies noted that since the Jan. 6 riot, "Russian, Iranian, and Chinese influence actors have seized the opportunity to amplify narratives in furtherance of their policy interest amid the presidential transition."
Russian state and proxy media outlets "have amplified themes related to the violent and chaotic nature of the Capitol Hill incident, impeachment of President Trump, and social media censorship," the unclassified intelligence report said. "In at least one instance, a Russian proxy claimed that ANTIFA members disguised themselves as supporters of President Trump, and were responsible for storming the Capitol building."
Chinese media, meanwhile, "have seized the story to denigrate U.S. democratic governance, casting the United States as broadly in decline — and to justify China's crackdown on protestors in Hong Kong."
The examination of possible foreign influence related to the Capitol riot, which involves the FBI's Counterintelligence Division, comes after years of what current and former FBI officials say is mounting evidence that Russia and other foreign adversaries have sought to secretly support political extremists on the far right and far left.
Law enforcement officials and terrorism experts say there has long been "a mutual affection between Western white supremacists and the Russian government," as two scholars put it in a February paper on the JustSecurity web site.
Some senators were concerned enough about the issue that they inserted a requirement in the 2021 defense bill that the Pentagon "report to Congress on the extent of Russian support for 'racially and ethnically motivated violent extremist groups and networks in Europe and the United States' — and what can be done to counter it."
The current FBI official told NBC News that the bureau did not necessarily suspect Russian involvement in the bitcoin transfers, which appear to have been made by a French computer programmer who died by suicide on Dec. 8 after triggering the transfers, according to French media.
But the cryptocurrency payments prompted the FBI to examine whether any of the money was used to find illegal acts, which, if true, raises the possibility of money laundering and conspiracy charges, the FBI official said.
Fuentes, who spoke at pro-Trump rallies last year in Michigan and Washington, D.C., told the ProPublica news organization that he was at the "Stop the Steal" rally on Wednesday but didn't follow the mob into the Capitol.
One group of Fuentes' supporters, which calls itself the Groyper Army, was filmed running through the Capitol carrying a large blue flag with the America First logo, ProPublica reported.
"We're looking at and treating this just like a significant international counterterrorism or counterintelligence operation," Michael Sherwin, the U.S. attorney in D.C., said at a news briefing last week.
"We're looking at everything: Money, travel records, looking at disposition, movement, communication records."

<< See link for the rest of a long article>>In the days before President Donald Trump fired James Comey as FBI director -- one of the most defining moments of his presidency -- Trump penned a scathing letter to Comey that has never been publicly released.
In fact, the four-page letter was never even sent to Comey because White House lawyers quickly determined it should never see the "light of day," Special Counsel Robert Mueller later recounted.
Mueller reviewed the May 2017 letter as part of his wide-ranging investigation and mentioned parts of it in his final report, but the letter has remained largely hidden from the public nearly four years later.
Now, a source connected to Mueller's probe has relayed the contents of the letter to ABC News, which -- especially in light of recent events -- offer a telling look at how Trump viewed the then-leader of the nation's top law enforcement agency.
“Your conduct has grown unpredictable and even erratic – including rambling and self-indulgent public performances that have baffled experts, citizens and law enforcement professionals alike – making it impossible for you to effectively lead this agency,” Trump wrote to Comey.
The letter then chastised Comey for "spen[ding] too much time cultivating a public image, and not enough time getting your own house in order.”

Very descriptive
The ones peddling lies, whataboutery and changing the subject whenever it became uncomfortable. The ones claiming to only be wanting the truth but never wanting to hear it. Gone too.
Re: Chaos in USA
Interesting how many "patriots" were involved in the 6th Jan stuff because they thought Biden would take away their guns. If they end up with a felony conviction as a result of that day then by their own actions they will have removed their own right to bear arms.
Re: Chaos in USA
The themes on the national news this morning are:
1) The Trumps snubbing the Bidens with regard to inauguration protocols.
That's who they are!
2) The cost of Trump's send-off at taxpayers expense;
Its worth whatever the cost to get rid of him!
3) The number of pardons he will issue today and the recipients of them.
Some say that some pardons could be overturned if his conviction after impeachment connects them to his
wrongdoing.
4) Security around Capitol, 25,000 armed National Guard.
Tomorrow Noon can't come soon enough!

True about felony convictions, but those types usually don't comply with divesting themselves of their guns, or if they do they will acquire more.

Re: Chaos in USA
Everyone saying the Trumps are snubbing the Bidens by not inviting them over for tea, I reckon the Bidens are actually quietly relieved by it. I'm sure they know pretty much what the place looks like from when he was VP.
As for the cost of the send-off, I think it's been tradition in recent years that the incoming president has given the outgoing one a free flight to somewhere in AF1 (although presumably under a different callsign), so it would have cost something anyway.
Those with felony convictions might find they get more jail time if found in possession.
