– The invaders finally admitted that they were enemies here
– The enemy still hopes to suppress the partisan movement
– Locals continue and will continue to resist the occupation, no matter what kind of witch hunt the Russians engage in.
No sh1t Sherlock. How can any country resist in the face of such towering intellect?

Reported that the Russians have established a 400m exclusion zone for locals, including evictions, around Brilivka station, and have started checking cellphones, etc.
so that's how the Rooskies suspect the HIMARS crew got their targeting info.......
Would be karma if, in checking any recovered cellphones, the invading criminals brought more HIMARS down on their heads.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Hi,
it's apparently been pulled by the original poster.
It doesn't appear to have been posted or copied to any of the usual video sites I use. :(
It looked legit. I'd tentatively ID'ed the location as the NW corner of the unloading yard, on the far side of the road, looking south, judging by the telegraph/power poles.
Looked like a switched-on movements chapski had ordered all the guys to grab a machine gun each before they ran.
I would expect the video taker was Russian military, who is now trying to explain himself to a not-nice-at-all bloke who has a pair of pliers and a branding iron.

Could we adopt that procedure in Kent and East Sussex?

Y'know, Article 5 and all that.

Reporting on Ukraine has become abysmal with hundreds of eastern sites taking over. These feature fantasy, old news supplied as recent events and faked videos. Unfortunately YuoTube, which carries the most reports, has no language filter feature to avoid this rubbish.

While the Ukrainians are limited to short range missiles (well, 70 km) and the Russians can destroy Ukrainian cities from long-range using cruise missiles the Ukrainians are fighting with one hand tied behind their back. Give the Ukrainians longer range missiles perhaps restricted to use to targets in pre-2014 areas. Until the Ukrainians can destroy the weaponry flowing in from Crimea they will have a problem from the South.

There are only two roads and two railway lines from Crimea into Ukraine and they all go through some pretty restricted areas, if these routes are closed, and it would take some accuracy and destructive power to do it properly, Russia would have a REAL supply problem.

The Ukes have been asking for the longer range HIMARS/M270 missiles for quite a while now. Given they are also asking for permission to hit Russia, I can see why the US is reluctant to supply them.
In practical terms, the Ukes only need to capture the right bank of the Dnipro to control Crimea's water supply (which is insufficient without water from the Dnipro), so the current 70km missiles should be sufficient. The Russians have shown themselves incapable of supporting a truck logistics chain more than 90km long anyway.

You will recall (#1702) that I mentioned a couple of days ago that Myrna would be the next railhead to get the good news.
Firstly, it turns out that the Ukes call it Kalanchak as that's the nearest big town.
Second, the Russians thought they'd hide the unloading by setting a smokescreen (at night). It appears either the smoke generators got out of control, or someone dropped some ammo in the reduced visibility, thus saving the Ukes a few HIMARS rounds to use somewhere else =))

Krasnoperekopsk, since you asked, is the next place back with handling facilities, over 70 miles back at the isthmus where Crimea joins mainland Ukraine (and thus out of HIMARS range, but also beyond the range that the Rooskies have so far been able to support frontline ops via trucks only).

One of my fears is that the Russians will destroy the dam upriver from Kherson out of spite. It will cut off water to Crimea but if Russia is taking a big hit they may not care and the disaster at Kherson would be tremendous.

Yes, and damaging any of the Ukrainian nuclear plants is also possible, but I don't think they will.
The Ukes could easily blow all the gas and oil pipelines from Russia to Europe, thus devastating both the Russian economy, and Europe's.
The US could cut supplies and other supports to Ukraine
Pretty much every interested party in this war has a highly destructive option.
It's a Mexican Standoff.

The war must thus proceed by conventional means.

Anyway, I thought they needed to destroy it to restore water to Crimea, or is this another dam?

The dam in question creates a large lake, part of the water from this goes to Crimea. Whether that is by pipelines or surface water I don't know. As you can see Crimea has a number of large marshy areas where it joins the mainland but these are probably not good water supplies.

Another source of information.

https://www.rt.com/russia/560333-amnest ... aign=Email

" Amnesty International said on Friday that it stands by a report in which it accused Kiev of endangering civilians by placing its military assets in schools and residential areas. The investigation drew the ire of the Ukrainian government and President Vladimir Zelensky.

The NGO “fully stands by our research,” its Secretary General Agnes Callamard told the news agency AFP in an emailed statement. She also took to Twitter to state that her organization stands “by all victims. Impartially” and lashed out at those she called “social media mobs and trolls” that are “attacking” Amnesty’s investigations. "

There's also a lot of people pointing out the legal, logical, and moral holes in Amnesty International's report, including Amnesty Ukraine
(and me, for that matter).
AI's reputation just went out the window with that rubbish.

If that report is rubbish, then I can take it that this report from Amnesty International is also full of holes? and can be classed as rubbish.

Yes, also rubbish, based on what's in that article.

The fact that it was hit, and the rest of the article, gives us no clues as to
(a) whether it was the intended target
(b) the criteria used to decide if it was a target
both of which are essential parts of the 'deliberately targeted' criteria.

To pick just one point, the idea that the pilots could have seen, read, and decided not to drop based on forecourt signs is ridiculous. The unmask time is far too short for a start.

There is a big logical hole in AI's reasoning - the fact that the Ukrainians knew there was no military target nearby (assuming that to be true) is absolutely not the same as the Russians knowing that at the time.

The situation is very similar to the Chinese Embassy attack in Belgrade in 1999, on which the AI report drew no conclusion. I think AI was right to draw no conclusion then, and wrong to draw a conclusion now. They are being inconsistent.

Are the Russians guilty of a shedload of war crimes? Yes, but on the available evidence there's no proof that this is one of them.

The public also assume that precision weapons mean all weapons hit their intended target therefore hitting the theatre was intended.
