Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Tnx a lot!
Finished the interview with C L Fox and I'm fascinated. Especially by the last questions he had.
Would have liked to ask a couple myself, actually.
putin could have his slogan as "Make Russia Great Again" meaning he wants the great soviet union back, period.
I think I'll have to get his book, some things are difficult to understand, too specific for the ear (in the interview), if you're not a native speaker and are a non-mil. I haven't been a great fan of history, but he seems to have a really interesting and integrating approach.
The interviewer was also ... charming?, and ... well, as for no Presidental elections in UKR making him uneasy - how on earth could these be organised, with ruz bombing indiscriminately? Imagine their joy of knowing exactly where to aim at all over the country.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Glad you enjoyed the podcast.
It gave me a much better understanding and insight into the geopolitical challenges between the West and Russia. Unfortunately all too often, the media brings in so called “experts” (Richard Quest comes to mind) and gives them a few minutes to give an analysis on very complicated subjects and then it’s off to a commercial break.
That is why I like the format of podcasts. And boy did I learn a lot on this one. Andy gave Curtis Fox the platform to provide his brilliant analysis, knowledge and insight.
Andy is very accomplished in his own right. Former Navy SEAL Team 6 member, ATP rated Gulfstream and Citation CJ pilot, wing-suit and BASE jumping record holder.

Sweden joined NATO today!
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Maybe we'll get to see that long-awaited Netball team at last.................
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
NATO wasted no time and flew an E-3A over Sweden this afternoon.
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
We've been 'exercising' with the Swedish military for decades. I recall an excellent 10 days at Leuchars in '72 when an Ängelholm Draken squadron came over to work AD with 23Sqn. I had a recently separated RAF wife staying with us and the Swedish guys quite took to her...
On the other hand, I never got a ride in a Draken

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
A Swedish Colonel visited Coningsby back in '92. It was nominally a Flight Safety thing, so as SFSO I was hosting him.
He spent 90% of his time nominally in the Sim with me..but the QWI school was right next door, and I hardly ever saw him
I have a Flygvapnet belt somewhere, looks very smart.
And I didn't get a trip in a Viggen either.

Yes, but what about the Netball team?

Oh yes, he brought them over.
That was my payoff for keeping quiet about the QWI thing
Although I must admit, I prefer Norwegians. They knit and send you sweaters when they get home.

My apologies for lapsing into acronyms. Thanks for translating, BOAC.
Latest news is that the money for the Czech-brokered 800,000 arty shells is now sourced, and they are apparently arriving in Ukraine in a few weeks.
The Lithuanians have sent a few truckloads today in the interim.
The UK is providing cash for 10,000 drones.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Interesting article in the Australian Newspaper today, saying that Kim Jong-un has sent 1.5 million Artillery shells to Russia, but around half are 'duds.'
A General Skibitsky was reported as saying 'However, these shells were made in the '70's and '80's. Half of them do not work and the rest need to be either repaired or checked before being used."

Well, around half aren't - so what's the problem (from behind the general's table, that is).Pinky the pilot wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:17 amInteresting article in the Australian Newspaper today, saying that Kim Jong-un has sent 1.5 million Artillery shells to Russia, but around half are 'duds.'
Explosions in a major ruz metal plant (the third with heavy UAV damages, actually), Severstal (800 km from UKR).
Gen Zaluzhnyi is going to be the ambassador in the UK. Wow.
Another 'Bermuda triange' type of 'anomaly' established - the 'Budanov Triangle' around the waters of Crimea.
As for the ruz 'success' - the problem is that they are carpet bombing the villages to flat rubble, so that the UKR has nowhere to position and has to retreat. Then ruz move on and have the same problem - nowhere to hide. But that's not an issue for the commanders, hence the horrific numbers of ruz dead and wounded. The videos show lack of interest to at least attempt to help the fellow soldiers, so probably they don't feel 'fellowship'. The wounded are just left where they happened to fall.
But the maternity hospital (!) in Rostov was turned into mil, so there must be some wounded who make it back.
The fans of oil and gas industry have been hit - partly by the careless guys smoking and causing massive fires all over ruz.
I did, even though I'm familiar with the issues in broad lines. But Fox's factual detail (names, years, numbers) is impressive, and I liked the implications and conclusions he made, so that it all would 'click'.GrumpyPilot wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 8:49 pmGlad you enjoyed the podcast.

Plus, I checked what 'cleared hot' means .
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Unconfirmed - the A-50 maintenance plant was targeted. Any new A-50s have not been seen to replace the previous one in the skies for sure.
Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Yesterday's attack to Taganrog air surveillance crafts assembly/maintenance facility (Beriev) was successful, as per videos posted by locals. It is confirmed that ruz has not used their A-50s since the last disaster (for them).
Then, an explosion of a gas pipeline in Siberia.
ruz is attacking Odessa, obviously hoping to stop the port operations.
A ruz drone with a thin fiber optic cable for communication was obtained. The cable means it can't be taken down by EW, and more data transmitted with better quality video. I wonder. Like flying on a rope?
Aa, and one more thing - possible terror attacks expected in Moscow per US and other sources, with warnings to their citizens to avoid crowds. Rumours of putin planning something 'big' in Moscow, blaming UKR of course, to be able to announce: dear friends, now it's war, not a special military operation any more.

Fox, or anybody, any intel on some items of a Patriot having been hit? Not confirmed.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Russians are only claiming an S-300, using an Iskander SSM. Looks like complete destruction of the launcher and probably destruction of other units from that explosion.
It looks like an S-300 to me too, and I'm sure the Russians would claim a Patriot immediately if they had hit one.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Fresh satellite imagery shows the result of the Ukrainian attack, as well as the fact none of the S-300 or S-400 at the Beriev Aircraft Company helped them repel the drone attack
The damage to another russian A-50 Airborne Radar might not be extensive, though, Defence Express says.
