Those of us that treated the news that Jo Brand and the BBC faced no action from the police following her recommendation to hurl battery acid in the faces of right wing politicians may be interested in todays news.

A former soldier and Falklands veteran made a rather exasperated tweet that he thought the only way we would get Brexit would be if we had a military coup. He was visited by Cumbria Police who arrived for what was described as a "chat".
Fear of possible repercussions prevents me from passing comment on this.

Some progress on one front:
A statement from the Chair of the School Board:

Re. Deputy Head, Mr Abdullah A. S Patel

Following some of the comments attributed to Mr Patel in the media this morning, the Trust has decided to suspend him from all school duties with immediate effect until a full investigation is carried out.

The ‘school’ and ‘Trust’ do not share the views attributed to him.

Mr Yakub Patel
Chair of Al-Madani Educational Trust
although one does wonder how much action will be taken by Mr Patel against Mr Patel, and whether or not this will be reported once the 24 hr news cycle moves on to the next 'Shock! Horror!'

Oops, here is another one, that's two and it's hardly lunch time,
A FORMER Labour Party legal assistant who was chosen to question the Tory leadership candidates during last night’s BBC TV debate has been suspended by his law firm after an anti-Semitic outburst was exposed.
Aman Thakar, a former Labour Party legal assistant and councillor candidate brought in to the party to deal with cases of anti-Semitism, was suspended by his current employer Leigh Day Solicitors following the discovery of a controversial tweet Mr Thakar posted in February. The tweet read: “Hitler’s abuse of the term nationalism is, to me, a nationalist, the most harmful part of his legacy.” Mr Thakar appeared on the BBC Tory leadership debate on Tuesday night accusing the Tory candidates of having no democratic mandate to lead the country.

I expect the BBC legal excuse executive will be able to shrug this off, mainly because they don't seem to be accountable for anything that they do.

He's probably correct. I fully expect that by October they'll have figured out a way to cancel Brexit and the UK will be stuck with the EU (and vice versa, TBF). I also don't expect a coup, that's not the British way.

Peasants' Revolt, Execution of Charles I, Glorious Revolution, etc. The Brits started modern coups. Bit out of practice these days though ;)))

Some view the American War of Independence as an uprising by British settlers against a German King supported by German Auxiliaries.

French v Germans - simples!

When a Frenchie arrives in Hell, the first discovery is that they are put in a room with every other Frenchman (L'enfer, c'est les autres). The second is that they are perpetual hosts at a party where every guest is German, and they have to be unfailingly nice to them. :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil:

At least there's one thing we can be thankful for and that's May standing down. Here she is giving Vlad the Impaler a strict talking to about his boys murdering people in the U.K. I can see he's really impressed and will no doubt promise to let his men be extradited.

And here are the world leaders - they seem to have moved May to the second row by mistake, surely? :))

Yesterday's woman. I suppose the strength of the U.K. economy doesn't count when there's no respect left. Meanwhile Trump's backside is getting raw from all the Little Emperor's, sorry, Macron's kisses...

What a bloody embarrasment that woman is. I can spy Turkey, France, Saudi Arabia and Germany in the front row plus some other great leaders....

In that group pic, the photographer must have used a very fast shutter speed to stop Angiebabe from being a blur.

To give her her due, at least she appears to have had a go at Putin, which is more than can be said for the rest of the back slapping old boys rubbing shoulders and laughing with the other low life on that stage.

Her and her party (and the Labour Party before her) have reduced the UK to the point where a verbal 'go' is the only action she can take. And that's not a comment on the Armed Forces alone, but the total unwillingness to do anything effective about, say, Salisbury, or any of the previous assassinations that led Putin to carry on doing them. What's the big problem in Europe with Russia? Dependence on Russian energy supplies. Has the UK and everywhere else removed their own ability to generate power? Yes, by killing off nuclear (and tidal, wave, etc) at the fundamental level by not having enough engineers and scientists who can build even one new power station. The UK has thoroughly f#cked itself, and anyone with half a brain has been saying this would happen for 30 years. My first Head of Science had a paperweight with a drop of North Sea Oil in it prominently on his desk, "When that runs out, we're screwed", he would say, "because we've done nothing to ensure UK energy independence.". Scientific education, investment, long term planning and thinking, all completely ignored by Government.

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/the-source ... -come-from
If Russia turns the gas off, the UK lights go out tomorrow. They'll wait till winter before doing it though...
Be aware that although the UK only takes about 2% of energy through Russian gas directly, Europe takes 36% of its energy through Russian gas overall, so the UK sources (primarily Norway) would be diverted to other European countries and prices would rise massively.

Paper tigers indeed - in the face of a chilly winter.

No nuclear power to speak of, those turbines refusing to turn when there's no wind and those smelly old conventional power stations being closed down, but at least they're very green in theory!

Putin has them right where he wants them and will breeze through, lying and denying as usual. Trump appears to have taken 'speed' in exchanges with the Press when trying to deflect Kim's attention from China and Russia, Merkel is obviously unwell but being brave soldiering on, Erdogan is a friend of Putin now so can't be criticised, the Arab seems to have been forgiven for murdering the journalist and Macron is kissing any potentially useful arse he can find. And May's criticism of Putin is water off a duck's back. Not a lot to respect amongst that lot I'm afraid. :ymsick:

I think a special mention should be made for those pro Brexit British MP that showed their back to the rest of the MP while the MEPs listening to the Anthem of Europe. Just a practical question why did they not remain seated?

Because that would merely be disrespectful, rather than the confrontational opposition they wished to show.
Every aspect of ritual must be opposed, since ritual seeks to normalise acceptance without thought, exploit the good manners of those who disagree, and thus represses opposition.
In more practical terms, silent opposition to the loony left's desire to destroy western society has clearly not worked, and indeed has only encouraged even more aggressive action by the left. Vigorous opposition is now required at every opportunity.

It's not the anthem of Europe. It's a beautiful composition by Ludwig van Beethoven with the words from 'Ode to Joy' by Friedrich Schiller. It has been pirated and abused. There is very little 'Freude' in the EU.

Yes, it's the fourth movement from Beethoven's 9th Symphony (aka 'The Choral')
Beethoven was completely deaf at the time he composed it, which is appropriate given the EU is completely deaf to criticism ;)))

Here's the Chicago Symphony and Riccardo Muti's interpretation of the whole thing (1:00:19 for 'Ode to Joy')

p.s. It should be noted that the EU is not the first regime to play LVB's 9th at significant occasions. It has also been a favorite of Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, Rhodesia after UDI, and Communist East Germany. Obviously a winner with the more tolerant institutions ;)))
